leigh white Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I got in his face so much at a Lancaster Whites meeting at the Greaves Hotel about signing Diouf , he lost his rag with me. It worked though. Quote
Zico Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Whilst you can hold pg accountable for where we are to some degree I don't see how a replacement could improve our situation I believe df and his staff said they had never come across a chairman less interested in football and more interested in the business side of things, ie cost cutting Which is because of the situation we find ourselves in Without a cash injection or takeover I don't see how things would change And that's what pg and ed are working towards Pg out changes nowt as it stands right now and is a pointless exercise demanding it, imo Quote
Ani Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 And therein lies the issue. We don't understand what his job entails, so how can any of us slate him for doing that job badly? Especially to the point of organizing a protest. Do not take this the wrong way but you do not spend your hard earned money watching the team week in week out. For people who do and want to support the club why should n't they protest if they think something is wrong. Personally I won't join a protest I will have a couple of beers and take my seat as normal but if others want to protest it is up to them. Quote
Ani Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 the chairman is only responsible to the owner stoke have spent a fortune dunno about hull We never paid big fees out, not sure where our wage bill put us, we have massive debts so have somehow spent a fortune and are bottom of the Championship. PG is very well paid given all he does is what ED says. Quote

PG is paid by the owner the owner has paid him for years i assume the owner is happy with him, unless garty has some photos if the protesters dont want garty, is it a massive leap to suggest they also dont want the owner - even if they dont realise it Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) Manager recruitment , financial management and transfer negotiations. 4 duff managers, £160 million debts , and i couldn't comment on the final one. What do you think? I can almost guarantee that's not all his job entails, but it seems there's no point arguing. Do not take this the wrong way but you do not spend your hard earned money watching the team week in week out. For people who do and want to support the club why should n't they protest if they think something is wrong. Personally I won't join a protest I will have a couple of beers and take my seat as normal but if others want to protest it is up to them. I have spent many thousands over the years watching them, home and away. Myself, Swanny, and our dad went almost every week to watch them, win, lose, or draw, rain or shine. I only moved abroad a little over 3 1/2 years ago (my last game was the 5-0 defeat at Wembley) - people on here make out like I sit back and watch with a margarita in my hand laughing at the shit you're all going through. I live that shit too. I support as much as I can, buy the new shirts when they come out, pay for "Wanderers Player" so I can get up before the sun's up to listen to the shit you're watching, and when I'm back in England I go to every game I can. I have spent, and continue to spend, a lot of money on the whites. And even if I was there, I would not protest. It's window-licker behaviour of the highest order. ED and PG know what the problems are, but they also know more about what those problems entail financially and for the health of the club than ANYONE who walks through those turnstiles on match days. PG even basically said that with his infamous "people in football know" line. Edited October 3, 2014 by SnoopJohnnyJohn Quote
davidjack Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Our wage bill has never been "in the top few". Okocha and Anelka may have been on big money (50k perhaps), but there were very few others on that kind of money, I'd suggest. And figures like that are only what squad players are on at the biggest clubs. Our wages to income ratio from memory was something like 70-80 per cent wasn't it? It certainly wasn't more than 100 per cent...so as I keep saying, how the fuck did we run up debts of £20m every year for 5 years during our most successful spell? That's why PG is rightly in the firing line. Keeping hold of the last two managers for 12 months too long in both cases has also done us untold damage. And the way he's handling this sacking is shambolic too. The fact we're going into such a big match with no idea who's in charge is frankly ludicrous. Quote
Casino Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 spearing, maybe and you still miss the point nowt that is going on (or has gone on) is going on without the owners approval have your demo against him if you must but dont come crying when he decides to call in whatever he can Quote
davidjack Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Why haven't Lennie and Curtis and whoever else he brought in to no great effect got the boot too? Maybe they have? Except we don't know anything, we're relying on rumours of all kinds of shenanigans going on behind the scenes. It's shambolic. Quote
davidjack Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Well if the owner approves of this, or has approved of anything that's preceded it, then we should all be more worried than we already are. Quote

davidjack Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 No way was there a season when only 6 clubs had a bigger wage bill than us. Quote
Garrp Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 No way was there a season when only 6 clubs had a bigger wage bill than us. As iv said I can't find the info but when I do I will post it. what is a fact is that wherever we were in the wage table we overachieved by a couple of places, not by half the league as you are trying to convince us. Quote
davidjack Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, City, Newcastle, Leeds (pre 2004), Villa, Fulham, West Ham (apart from a couple of seasons when they dropped down), Sunderland (ditto), probably even hard up Everton...I think you'd be hard pressed to find us paying bigger wages than any of these... Quote
davidjack Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 And the highest we finished was 6th, not 5th. Quote

So of the 13 you named 3 of them weren't even in the same division as us when our wage bill was at its peak. well done Quote

Gonk Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 The problem we had is that people forgot what successful meant for a team like us. From where we were 5 or 6 years ago teams like Stoke and Hull have come along and are competing in the Premier League so it can be done with the right people and structures. Surely the chairman is responsible for helping putting those things in place. Stoke is the plaything of Peter Coates, owner / chairman of Bet365, and a few hundred million in front of ED. He's pumped millions into Stol#ke like Eddie did here. The difference being they haven't been relegated and stayed down Quote
