  • Somebody will no doubt sign him, the way things are going, I'm expecting him to pitch up at Wigan with Whelan saying "He's served his time and she was probably asking for it"

Let's forget all this plasterer / mechanic nonsense, he's a high profile footballer and as such, a role model and someone who deals with the wider public on a constant basis. He isn't working in a sma

think i missed this:

Gordon Taylor has apologised for comparing the Hillsborough tragedy to the Ched Evans rape case.

Taylor had likened Evans's insistence he is not guilty of rape to the Hillsborough case, when fans were at first blamed for the 1989 disaster where 96 supporters lost their lives.

Awkward....

They're worse than Muslims in being offended by anything & everything. All I can see he's saying is there cases in football when what the law has said has since been proved incorrect. Using a football reference seemed logical seeing as he's the head if the PFA.

Normally yes but it didn't need mentioning here at all. Poor form by him

Gordon Taylor is 70 - he should step aside and let Clarke Carlisle take over.

I don't like Taylor, he's got some sort of monopoly on the PFA. He clearly isn't the brightest, isn't very well spoken. He should go.

Dave Whelan's broken leg is mended now. He could do a job.

Did you not know? Only scousers are allowed to use the 'H' word.

Steve Bruce has had his say now. He seems to think that Evans has got a case for appeal.

Why would you come out and say that as a manager of a premier league club? He may have a case for appeal but surely it can't do Bruce any good saying it in the current situation?

He's Steve Bruce. That says it all.

This really is horrible.

Ched Evans is a convicted rapist, tried by a jury of his peers.

Taylor and Bruce are joining in the 'he was probably not to blame' discussions and Ched is becoming the victim, he really is not.

I get people will always question a prosecution, but given this was the jury's decision based on all the facts (unlike hillsborough) until more facts are unearthed (if there are any) he is a rapist NOT the fucking victim.

This is what some people don’t get , it’s not your opinion or my opinion it was the opinion of a jury that saw ALL the facts from BOTH sides and decided that he was guilty as charged and sent him down

and they sent him down for a term which he served

guilty or not, he's now been freed and theres no reason in law why he cant crack on with his chosen career

What were that teacher called who used to come on here, got done for selling Marching Powder at his school?

Did he go back to teaching?

And three Appeal Court judges rejected his appeal. It seems to me very unlikely the conviction will be overturned unless there's absolutely stonewall new evidence which I haven't heard.

Don't see on what basis the Review Board would overturn a verdict that has been backed up to this extent, especially in the current climate.

Think most folk get that. The point is that a lot of folk don't want him at their club right now. Someone will take him eventually. He's damaged goods on the cheap. Bit like you used to get in the mill shop clearances.

He can do whatever job somebody employs him to do, what he is finding is that getting a job is not as easy as it was.

Even if be was a plumber or such (as some have used as a comparison) many people would not want to work alongside him or want him in their home if they knew of his past. He is/was employed in a very public profession, he enjoyed the fruits of that profession now he is suffering from the flip side as such....That is the reality for Chedward, it may or may not be fair but life isn't always so.

which goes for most people who have done time

When is the appeal hearing?

When is the appeal hearing?

It is not an appeal - he lost that long ago.

It is a case review.

Once upon a time police evidence would be regarded as Gospel. That isn't so any more. The question which might be asked is "If she went to Police to report her handbag as stolen, why did they pursue a rape enquiry at all?".  Clearly she was more concerned about her handbag than the sex, which is not a straightforward open-and-shut case.

he didnt lose his appeal. He was refused leave to appeal.

This is the LCJ's verdict when the leave was refused.

Two clubs did want to employ him

One backed down partly because someone threatened a board member(?)'s daughter with rape

Both felt pressure from a petition probably signed by people who don't support a football club

He wants to work, people want to employ him, if it was any other profession, as people like to compare these things, he'd be back in a job

If it was any other crime he would

And yet people sing songs about van persie being a rapist and "she said no Marlon" etc

Just let him get on with it
