I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Its a fair cop......I didnt read back, just remembered that you went in quite heavy against the convicts 😀

The local lads here who I partake of the amber nectar with on a regular basis were scathing about the Australian team before The Ashes and were fearing a stuffing.

Their analysis after the third test and then after the whole thing was over was "Australia were shit, England were just shitter".

Any comment from me would have been coloured by their pre series doom mongering. As it happened, they were wrong as was our erstwhile Kopite.

I think the middle paragraph pretty much hit the nail on the head......though shitter probably flattered us.

Northampton 1-0 up after 3 minutes at Oakwell

Edited by Gonk

..........Which incidentally is pushing Wigan into the bottom 4 as it stands

This Arsenal v Chelsea game is almost unwatchable.

Makes us v Mansfield an attractive game

Still only 2 points clear of the bottom three. Ordinarily you’d think Plymouth and Mansfield would be a bit nervous being only 7 points clear, but they’re only 10 points off the play offs!

I think it does reflect the poor quality of the league this year that the points difference is so tight

Didn’t watch tonight - busy waxing my bollocks - so how did Connell play? He was brilliant against Stevenage.

No idea. I assume he was just checking the opposition out. Disappointed to hear you missed this game though.

Woke up a little disappointed that Tin pot mob are still hovering above the relegation zone. Albeit only 1 point from 23rd

Will the turd finally flush?

next 5 they have Peterborough, Reading, Luton, Stockport & Huddersfield.

much like us though, think the final run in will determine their fate. 6 out of the final 7 games are against teams around them - Leyton Orient, Northampton, Mansfield, Rotherham, Vale & Wimbledon still to play

If we go up, then we're free of them anyway.

Tantamount to the same thing- the turd will no longer be visible.

It was always going to be hard for Northampton to get a win at oakwell but a draw wasn't bad. Let the deluded fools stay just out of the relegation zone for now. Keep a little bit of pressure off lowe and give them hope that they will be safe. 3 of the four below them are right on their coat tails. I hope they stay 5th bottom until the final game then needing a point to stay up they manage to  keep the game at 0-0 until an own goal by will aimson in the 89th minute gives Stevenage the lead. On scoring Will rips his top off revealing a vest with "Bolton till I die" emblazoned across it

Sam tickle throws a punch at his own player and the ref immediately sends them both off. Wigan having used all their subs are forced to play out  injury time with Callum Mcmanaman in goal. Stevenage  score a further 3 before Callum in his final game for the tics is cautioned for handling outside the box . The scouse cunt pushes the ref and is sent off . At the restart Stevenage score a 5th from the free kick and the ref blows the final whistle in what is now the 23rd minute of injury time. Relegating wigan to the forth tier.

Stevenage now face an anxious wait to see if the 5 goal swing is enough to move them into the final play off place at the expense of Luton who need a point away at Bolton.

The final minutes of the game in horwich were kick off was delayed by 30mins are relayed onto the big screen in the ground. The wigan fans who have travelled well in a sold out away end have been locked in and are forced to watch .With the game at 0-0 deep into injury time and knowing that Bolton need to win to secure 2nd spot and automatic promotion . The wigan fans forget their plight and join in a chorus of "Bolton get battered." The day is not over though and in the 8th minute of added time in what must be the last attack of game John Mcatee finds himself through on goal. His shot hits the cross bar but bounces into the net off the back of the Luton keepers head. There isnt time for a restart. Bolton are promoted to the championship and the result sees Stevenage leapfrog Luton into the final playoff spot.

In appreciation the Stevenage fans who have invaded the pitch .Celebrate by giving the captive wigan fans a rendition of "Wanky Wanderers"

Very good ... apart from "The wigan fans who have travelled well in a sold out away end" which is clearly bollox.

He didn’t play.

I had it on as background noise, so I can’t be sure whether I heard the commentator say or whether I’ve read it on here, that he was dropped after trying to engineer a move away on deadline day.

Officially he wasn't well. I suspect he'll be feeling better for Saturday.

I was briefly concerned about Barnsley making a late season run into the playoffs but if we beat them on Saturday it should lay that concern to rest. More bothered about Huddersfield coming on strong now, given their big spending window and their relatively easy on paper run in. They’ve strengthened their forward line due to Alfie Mays suspension and the prospect of having to rely on Dion 😀

They also have Stevenage next Tuesday which as we know is a horrible place to go to. Should be irrelevant by then.

The only team I can see potentially falling out the playoffs is Bradford.

Think it’s still a lottery atm  - we have to gain ground and others are on our tail, and with our run in against a lot of the better teams we won’t really know our prospects until the end of the season. Huddersfield at home could be crucial- we’ll see.

We're 10 points clear of 7th. It's not a lottery and the only teams we have to gain ground on are Lincoln and Cardiff.
