I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

VAR has ruined football and everybody just let it happen.

"Clear and Obvious". Like saying Lampard's World Cup goal did go in, Taggart's header too. Our goal v Leeds wasn't offside because the ball was pulled back.

If it takes 5 minutes & 8 camera angles it ain't 'clear and obvious'.

There will be scenes unknown if Spurs manage a goal here.

Good job Chelsea are shit otherwise spurs would’ve been murdered

Chelsea fans making that Ronaldo siu sound thing want to take a long look in the mirror.

Daniel Sturridge surprisingly good as a studio pundit on Sky.

I hope VAR is gone by the time we are back. This is shite

I'd have to stop watching us. I won't watch any 'live' game anymore that has VAR. I just hate it.

Think Barton is bang on

Joey Barton might be bang on there, but he's right less often than a broken clock.

No doubt. On both points. I can’t believe it’s just happened and is accepted now.

It gives the Internet football fans something to argue about (when not shoehorning Messi and Ronaldo into everything) and generates content, it's what top flight football has become.

No doubt. It’s gash. I was surprised it’s being billed as one of the best Monday nights ever. Mind blowing, but as you say………

It’s just not for me. When we get back I will probably slope off. It’s a farce.

Lampard telling people he wanted to sign Bellingham from Birmingham 😂😂😂

Surely it's only a matter of time before they have VAR in the championship, and realistically that's where we'll first have to endure it.

I can’t see clubs being up for investing in it. Didn’t we sell our goal line technology as soon as we could ha due to becoming rubbish

In the Newcastle v Arsenal game it was said there wasnt conclusive camera angles to determine the three factors in the build up to the goal (looked a deffo push to me) so if the prem can't get it right then they shouldn't be rolling out further

And imagine the standard of VAR you'll get in the championship if the Prem is a joke

I've no problem with it being used for off-sides.

The rest is so slow and cumbersome it's not worth it.

The irony is that VAR was introduced to reduce human error and the only problem it currently has is the human error element. The video bit is great.

id agree

nothing else really

and only if its clearly visible to the naked eye at full speed

otherwise, bollocks to it

Well, only this weekend did I notice an additional "If the pass was going to have an impact" or wtte.

Barry Knight, The Everton goal, Galanza etc etc are all part of our history and another tale to tell.

Every club will have the same tales of woe.

Human error is part of what makes our game so impulsive and tribalistic.

Why do we have this quest to make some kind of utopian perfect game with no mistakes?

The one undisputed positive of VAR is that it eradicated penalties given for outrageous dives overnight

I'm still glad we're not involved with it, though

True, conversely, some bizarre decisions of penalties given. Wolves have had 2 shockers given against them on consecutive weekends.

In part because of inconclusive angles and also because of an individual's personal view.

Which it was supposed to remove. So yes, it's done some good but also some headscratchers.
