I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

TBF I'd never heard of Noah's Ark FC either.

... but Chelsea had Felix and Nkunku, to name just two. Only saw the 2nd half but it was like a 3rd round FA Cup game involving a PL team and a Sunday League team.

European football competitions are so shite since they revamped them all.

Liverpool scored 11, 10 (twice) and 8 in European games before the Champions league was formed.

Its always been so.

id say the new format (particularly the big one) get in more good teams but also gets plenty dross

also, the leagues are an unnecessary safety net

the conference league shouldn't exist, rewarding failure

we're not far off teams in the bottom half having a go

games gone

It is for the likes of Chelsea.

But not for those clubs who are trying to get top half/top 6-8, like Forrest, Brighton etc.

Much the same as it was for us.

Not that it’s ever likely to happen soon, or again! But what an achievement that would be if we made it to Europe again (in any format!)

sorry it's not an achievement

champions league yes

europa / conference no

I think the conference league is great. Gives clubs like us something to aspire too.

That said I liked the Anglo Italian cup

Scott Parker working wonders to get that Burnley squad looking so toothless.  Nice defeat at Millwall today.  Failed to score in 4 of last 7 games, all against teams nowhere near the top.  Hopefully he keeps his job for a good while yet.

Make that 5 in last 8 😀

WBA have drawn their last 6, no wins in 8 and four 0-0s, and somehow are 5th.

They always used to be a good watch but Corberan has made them long throw, long ball merchants, awful.

On another note - Thursday night league football 😒

But the weaker teams lost in round one then, it wasn't drawn out into a pointless (literally) league.

Not that I care, genuinely haven't seen anything of Thursday night euros games since we were in it, other than an occasional final.  It all just seems irrelevant if you're not in it yourself, like the BSM cup.

Course if we qualified for it, its an achievement and a memory, like getting to Wembley for the BSM final, we'd make the most of it and lap it up.

I just can't understand (personally) how anyone gets interested in watching other teams like Chelsea in it, like watching someone else's pre-season friendlies (until maybe semi final stage).

oh don't get me wrong, i'd love to be in it for the aways

but for the clubs, it's no achievement

I am a bit of a contradiction on this to be fair as I’d scrap the Bristol street cup tomorrow if I could.

That said there are so few trophies to win as any club. I suspect West Ham love their only proper trophy in 60 odd years.

I also agreed the formats are devalued from European Cup/Uefa/cup winners as only 3/4 teams went in these comps.

The new league format is wank. I’ll never understand a league where everyone doesn’t play each other. It makes no sense and has a level of unfairness as it is luck of the draw rather than the traditional argument of everyone plays everyone.

agree with this

although the table does look good atm

Aye. It does make you wonder if bigger clubs think it’s almost impossible to cock it up and they’ve taken their eye off the prize.

Seems like the ‘traditional’ 2nd tier European level sides are profiteering off this except the mighty LFC obvs

aye, we could win our next game then rest players and prob still finish top 8

I don't mind the conference really, but it's just a bit shit you end up with teams like Chelsea in it

if you win the ECL you get into the EL, and if you win the EL, you get into the CL

so I reckon plenty of the PL teams outside the top 6/7 or whatever it is would love to get in and have a crack, I would

and

I like the new "super" league format as well

miles better than the old group stages

Champions League should revert back to a Champions Cup.
Champions only, 2-legged knockout ties, no seeding, none of this keeping clubs from the same country apart.

2nd to 4th in Europa Cup with the Cup winners
5th to 8th in the Conference Cup

All knockout cups, no groups.

Elite will disagree because of lost revenue, but don't they complain of too many fixtures?

That's a bit harsh dismissing those 2 fa cup wins in that time as not being proper trophies. The FA cup only stopped being a proper trophy around 2012.

Have they won the FA cup in that time. I genuinely have no recollection after 1999. Stand corrected if so.

Noted this is more my bad maths if we are talking about 75 and 80

Never heard of those Chelsea players but I don’t really watch the prem these days. My football knowledge is limited to Bolton and whatever league we are in. Although I did watch the City game against Sporting. Enjoyed that.

What's the deal with this Maccabi Tel Aviv fans in Amsterdam thing?

Pisses me off still that Oxford are playing the fixtures we should be playing. Watford away tonight and London beers. Nope.

Decent crowd on ere.

Don't think I mind Watford.

I wouldn't worry too much about it though because their fans are reporting that Watford is a shithole and that they'd like to return home. So we're not missing much.

I hate Watford. Mums side of the family are glory hornet benders. 99 not so good😂
