I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Think they're only doing VAR from round 5 this season.

Shouldn't be used at all if every team in the competition from start can't use it

Ridiculous pen at Dortmund but game on

A crumb of comfort that the Class of 92 got humiliated today

Tamworth's physio just gave me a twitch

Tonks couldn’t be more non-league, love it

Evatt will sign her.

It really is a fucking disgrace that Tamworth don't get a replay at Tottenham.

The magic of the Cup.

All stacked towards making it easier for the big clubs.
How many years before the FA decide your ground has to be able to hold 10,000 (nominal figure) for you to host a Round 3 (or later) tie?

Yep. The same clubs who compete in meaningless Far East tournaments in the summer, but they can't play one extra domestic Cup game that would fund a non-League club for the next decade. Properly stinks.

Yep.

I understand the fixture congestion angle. However, they should have retained replays in the first three rounds or at the very least for the first and third given their significance as stages at which new tiers in the pyramid are introduced to the competition.

The "fixture congestion" angle is utter bollocks. As is usual in today's world, it's all about making life as easy as possible for the people with all the money.

I agree that a replay at a big ground is a boon for a minnow.

Not sure that playing to a finsh at a tight ground necessarily helps the big team though- you'd expect them to be more comfortable in a replay at home.

With £100M sat on the bench, and the best coaches and phyios money can buy? In comparison to a bunch of electricians, plumbers, and students who are blowing out of their arses after 30 minutes? Give over.

Personally feel they should have relaxed the rule about moving games to a bigger venue once they scrapped the replays. Not necessarily switching today’s tie to Spurs, but certainly the choice to play it at Villa/Birmingham and the bigger gate that comes with it.

Or, even better, introduce serious prize money (subsidised by the Premier League) for teams who are level at 90 minutes with teams from a league above them. Maybe even a sliding scale based on the number of divisions difference etc.

Should just be a straight forward replay. The "magic" has been sucked out of the Cup in favour of 'corporate' interests.

It's not for me

One of the most endearing features of the FA Cup is a big club having to go and play at a smaller ground

Leave it to the home team to choose?

Well, that's pretty definitive!

Bollocks to them anyway, we hardly compete in the fa cup anymore.

Yeah it would absolutely be up to the home team, we had of the options in years gone by. Witton choosing to play at home, Emley moving to Huddersfield and Gretna switching it altogether.

I did say my preferred option was giving decent prize money for a draw, though.

Btw I fucking hope Utd don’t realise this keeper is miles better than the usual one or they might risk turning it round

Could be happening already.

Spurs went on a pre season tour to Australia before the Euros last summer.

Then bowled straight in to another season.

Wankers.

Nah, they’re as bipolar as we are. They’ll get stuffed again next week.
