unbelievable how far and quickly they've fallen, I used to play for the for their youth team up to the age of 18 until a bad injury. they where in league 1 at the time!

I couldn't say never supported them just looked out for their results after playing there. No doubt there probably is a large element of that there. That said think they got about 6k the other night. Not to be sniffed at at that level!

I only asked the question above as that's what the City fans at work have commented numerous times. They hate Stockport with a passion due to how much County fans revelled in City's fall down the leagues a few years back. I asked why the hatred and they reckoned because so many Stockport folk support City rather than County.

I've always been led to believe stockports core support comes from Cheadle and hazel grove while Stockport itself sees themselves as an extension of manc hence there glorious reasons to be red or blue.

I work in Stockport. Gumbo or jules will know better then me but county supporters are rare. It's probably about 50 50 city United but most of the United ones are armchair supporters. The county fans you meet hate both of them but city more as the city fans seem to be deluded into thinking they support their home town team

Stockport used to play on Friday nights to attract United/City fans looking for football.

Problem was this left County fans with Saturday looking for footy.

Stockport is very evenly split City and United (with a few Bolton for good measure)

 

Despite United fans telling you that it's where City get there support from

 

The school Gumbo, the marples and I went to was probably 40%Utd, 30% Liverpool, 20% City and 10% County & others

 

County and City had a very brief rivalry when they were in the same division, but that's about it I'd say

 

I wouldn't say County's core support comes a particular area, moreso that Stockport town centre is scutty and so are Utd and City fans

 

I know a few County fans and they're all good lads
