I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Penalty? Disallowed goal? Thank fuck i knew nothing about this on my score update!!

Yes, well done Saddlers.

They only just scraped past 9 men twice, we'll shit them.

My memory is going

Who did we get off city?

And yeah hes from Melbourne city, new York city's cousin

Had to look him up

Luke Brattan

This could be a pivotal week this season for us superb result for Walsall and hopefully our ownership sorted out just what we need as we go towards the Christmas period and into the transfer window.

State of Newcastle. Goal up, man up, get beat and miss 3 pens in the shootout in the process

Bout time Sheff U ran out of luck, we need to keep on track with this 2 points a game malarkey and we'll finish top two, don't think we need to strengthen in Jan if we extend our loanees.

I might even break my record of 7 away games attended at this rate (shit fan)

They certainly did run out of luck.

The last two wins were against 9 men both times. They must have found it strange playing against the full compliment of 11.

Goal difference is now the same as well.

A lovely surprise, I didn't even know they were playing. We went on a long shit run after conceding a late equaliser at Charlton.Hopefully Sheff Utd will.

Ages and ages to go yet (and us playing after everyone else in the next round of fixtures will probably mean all the pressure is on us) but like I think someone else on here said, I'm glad that game in hand of their is out of the way now rather than being in some midweek in late April!

Either way there'll be another game in hand come jan 7th

I only worry about the cup when we're shit ie 2001-2003

Other than that it's great to have a cup run when the team are doing well and on the up

Eg 1993-95 2000 2004 2011

I cant think of a time a cup run has ever cost us anything, think it's a needless worry like winning manager of the month

id expect plenty games in hand as the season progresses

the odd ones for internationals and plenty for weather

The Manager of the Month "curse" & concerns about the cup game are completely different things. The MOTM "curse " is superstitious hokum, but playing our key players in a meaningless game against opponents with everything to gain from crocking them, is a gamble that isn't worth taking.

more like Walsall's keeper saved it. Good lad

Etheridge has over 50 international caps.

can't remember the last time one of our key players got crocked in a cup game and we rued playing them

not saying it can't happen, and I'd play bench players over regulars for the sake of game time, but looking back over recent our players run the risk of injury every time they put their boots on

though point was am saying it's not worth worrying about or more to the point not wanting us to win or not being arsed if we go out to "concentrate" on the league, because a cup run has never cost us anything IIRC

Same applies to Sheffield utd too though.

Fair points & I can't remember the last cup tie injury either , though i'd still say that if they aren't playing in meaningless matches they can't get injured.

I just think that this season more than ever, promotion is absolutely vital - especially in the light of this week's ownership upheaval - & having got ourselves into a strong position, we shouldn't take any chances......like unecessary injuries, a backlog of fixtures or giving other teams the advantage of playing fewer games.

It looks like this season is our best chance & I fear that if we don't go up, we could turn into another Coventry or Sheff Utd.

That depends on the team selections on both sides. If they picked a weakened team & we chose our strongest side, they could have a good go at crocking us.

Meaningless? It's the FA Cup FFS, the most important cup and second most important after the league, not the checkatrade trophy.

A win in the Cup not only keeps the momentum going, but could also provide the club wit much needed revenue from Round 3.

An away game at a big club bankrolls us for a bit longer.

ifs and buts, though a big tie in the next round pays the wages and all that, or at least the interest on the loan

and one parkinson has a track record is, is cup runs

In the context of where we are it's meaningless. ( even damaging )

We've a realistic hope of promotion but no hope at all of winning the cup, but the cup could sabotage our promotion chances.

( FWIW I love the cup but we should be focused solely on promotion  - this season is our best chance)

We've all been there :D

Worst ever is easily DMB at home after sir les had scored. I was still on my seat facing their fans when they scored :(

I was on my hols for that game watching it in a bar with my then missus

Was the only Bolton fan in there. Loads of DMBs plus a few Chelsea, Liverpool who were cheering us on and had quite heated banter going on

When they equalised I booted a stool, harder than I thought, and it hit a passing DMB. He thinks it's a Liverpool fan who did it and it kicked off

I promptly left
