Estate Agency fees are almost half as much as the Stamp Duty on a £300K property...

One we used last time we sold just do a fixed fee £599 no matter what the value of the house you are selling.

They were bleeding ace, couldn't do enough for you. Miles better than the traditional ones we'd used in the past and for a fraction of the cost

All it means is that my missus will start mothering about moving house I do not fucking want to.

Calm down... you're not a conservative MP are you?

I happen to work in an industry where people would disagree with you, but that's my misfortune.

No worries. I'm just grumpy because if he'd made this decision at the start of the financial year I'd be over £6k better off.

Please remember this when it comes to voting time.

Don't let the red rags drive you back into the abyss.

Except that it's reaching a point were people can't afford to move, which in turn stops others getting on the first rung of the housing ladder.

The reduction on stamp duty lower down the scale surely makes it easier to move/get ont ladder?

But you're paying a company for a service

And at 1-2% ithey're really low

And you have a choice; you can use any you like or not use one at all

As someone mentioned above, it's also possible to use fixed fee online ones these days

It's very different than stamp duty, which is a tax for fuck all

Now should estate agents be better for that money? In my experience with them yes...but pay them less and they will do even less to get your place shifted...

Although the fact we have only halved the deficit with all the spending cuts isn't great, to blame the global economy is a bit rich too. After all labour caused the global financial crisis according to Osbourne so he should take some responsibility that he has performed so poorly versus what he said he would do in his first budget when he was fully aware of all the facts.

Estate Agents are just leeches, in the same bracket as Recruitment Agencies for me.........

Well that's a given

Estate Agents are just leeches, in the same bracket as Recruitment Agencies for me.........

Surely Recruitment agencies are below estate agents, window cleaners, decorators and lift installers.

Anyway the lower stamp duty is a great idea and we will soon be selling our big home in the countryside and moving to somewhere smaller also in the countryside.

Couldn't believe it when I was told the recruitment agency earned £9k from me.

Think I'll just ring round and flog myself next time.

They didn't earn it from you

Estate agent fees under 2K. I'd say they've nearly earned their money in time spent. Doing viewings, listings, liaising with folk etc. No complaints so far.

My present company apparently paid a fee of £15K to the recruitment agency that helped get me on board, my boss reckons the company he worked with though worked their nuts off and he had no issues with the fee.

probably not, but it was a fairly protracted contract negotiation, that lasted over 3 transfer windows  :D

I think you are. Untill someone can prove me wrong you are ww's record signing.

Only ever moved twice and both were on a Bosman.

How much do you think we can get if we try and punt Crawley and Cheese over to The Wanderer?

Left wingers are a commodity these days. A good price for Crawley.

It's not physically possible for them to do any less.
