Call me a snob but apart from wigan and Blackpool I wouldn't care if i never went to another away game in this division again.

I don't disagree with you but back in the prem how many full away ends will we have. Last time I went An field I think there were about 700 in the away end as an out of form Robbie Keane got a hatrick for them.

 

Someone posted other day about four local games at Manc and Scouse clubs. Tickets for those four games alone would set you back about £200 in tickets alone. After a season we'd be back to low away followings.

 

I've personally enjoyed Hudds the last three seasons than any of trips to Mancs or Scousers. And trips to Forest, Weds, Bristol and Charlton far more than Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham etc

 

For me the big difference is the home games. That's where the prem is much better.

Financially we have to be in the prem but from a supporters view point I think it's shit really really shit and I doubt I'd go more than 4-5 away games if we got promoted if you compare that with the championship where I'll do nearer 15 it's a massive dilemma.

I do more away games in the Championship than the Premier league,not really sure why.

Same as - I refuse to pay well over £40 for away tickets when the clubs are raking in millions from tv. From a fans point of view, days out etc, the championship is miles better but we'd have to accept the club will be skint for a long time to come without a return to the big time

Phil Gartside once said that because of the income generated through TV rights, fans through the turnstiles played a very small part in the actual club finances. Why the fuck are we still expected to cough up a fortune to be so insignificant?

At our place we weren't, £285 was good value for an ST

 

Other clubs charge through the nose, not saying its right, but they may have bigger wage bills or something

 

And we still ended up in a right mess financially

 

It's the insignificant players earning big money that piss me off, eg mears

The midfield alone gives me butterflies. Clayton, Vela, Pratley, Danns, Davies, Trotter, maybe Commons

A couple of seasons of yo yo could sort the clubs finances right out, Big money going up ,parachute on the way down.

i think once you can go with your boys properly you will prefer it. it is no fun going to matches knowing you will be getting whipped.

Good call. Go with My lad (not a lad anymore, and he's driving Rotherham) and he grew into the game when we were in Prem', so these are all new grounds/adventures. I know we need the money, but I'm as giddy over Rotherham as I was Liverpool.

 

We are where we are, enjoy the ride. It's not a "rough with the smooth" more a "Meat Pie with the Chateaubriand"

I don't think the subject is black and white

 

There are certainly benefits to both being in the Championship and being in the Premiership.

 

Longer term, much like it did eventually when we were in the Prem, I believe that the shine would wear off the Championship away days

 

And the extra support we've gained from the kids that have grown up with us being a Premiership regular will also wear off eventually; we aren't a Norwich; the kids coming through will then support one of the Mancs etc

sounds like a fair deal. probably have to be bacon and hash browns now though....inflation and all that

I did enjoy knowing we were in the limelight again Saturday and had a week prior of some media interest - albeit most of it centered around Heskey - and it did take me back to some of those Premier League/Europa League nights when you knew you were on the big stage.

 

But for me I didnt get to experience any aways before our PL days so the last three seasons away from home have been frankly ace for me. I also feel its good in a way that this core of young support we've got which seems to be growing by the season, is getting a great grounding in their match going experiences by having these relentless and relatively affordable Championship days out

That's the core we would always get. The likes of my age group who grew up not knowing us to ever be top flight
