It's not cheap once you get there.

the treks out into the wilds will set you back a large wedge.

C86 if you get chance check out JS Watches in Reykjavik http://www.jswatch.com/ their craftsmanship is amazing

Jesus mate

You'd have been able to drive back from Bristol in that time on Birchtours coaches (just)

Good luck mate

Landed on Sunday then "car" to Selfoss for the night. I say car, got upgraded to a Toyota Land Cruiser... Lets just say I'm selling the car when I get back.

Day 2 was Selfoss to Vik, on the way we viewed Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls. Both worth the visit.

Day 3 was a trip to skaftafell watefall, not mant visit here.

Day 4 Vik to Laugarvatn. Stop off again at Seljalandsfoss and the had a couple of hours at the Secret Lagoon. Forget the Blue Lagoon and the hyper prices for a man made non-natural pool. Next was Gullfoss, fucking amazing. Next Geyser, not the best TBH. Evening meal at a farm where you overlooked the cows feeding while you ate. Best burger ever.

Tomorrow is down to Reykjavik via Thingvellir, drop car off then beer and mooch around Reykjavik until Sunday.

Today was brilliant, reading weather reports tonight is good for the aurora/northern lights which would cap today off.

Price wise it is expensive but not has bad I thought would be.

Beer wise, I have an app that tells me where the happy hours are in Reykjavik :)

I'd move here, non of the shite we have in Europe! Plenty of churches, seen no mosques, yet,

Forgot to mention, chink tourists everywhere. I'd ban fucking selfie sticks.  :angry2:

All the locals are very friendly.

Defo one for your bucket list.

Full of fat yanks when I went about 5/6 years ago.

NZ is full of Chinese tourists. They're like chimpanzees let loose. And not a week goes by without a Chinese driver killing somebody.

pretty much everywhere is full of them now and what a strange bunch they are. Social skills are sadly lacking.

Any shouts for Croatia? We're thinking of having a week at the end of June with an 18 month old. Is it that type of place?

Did porec a fee years back, no kids in tow, but small place with loads of restaurants and bars. No real beach to speak of and it was pebbles rather than sand. And you can get a trip over to Venice

Mum and dad went about 35yr ago and loved it and still bang on about how nice it was but have never been back.

Reykjavik is bang on. Beltin place, arrived yesterday in a blizzard, today glorious sunshine but bloody cold.

Off for beer while it's happy hour(s), £3 instead of £6 a pint.

Strongest beer you can buy in supermarket is 2.25%, they have government booze stores that sell normal stuff but the buggers shut today!

If you come to Reykjavik get the Appy app, tells you where the nearest happy hour bar is

We're also playing with mobile phone coverage in the uk, I got a 4g signal in middle of nowhere with no masts here. £15 for a sim card, 100mins, 100 texts and 1gb of data. Valid for two years without a top up.

We went last July and absolutely loved the place, very unspoilt and unbelievably picturesque. We stayed in Baska Voda which is a lovely little town, about an hour from Split airport. We'll be going back to Croatia again and Dubrovnik, Hvar & Brac are on the wish list to visit.

We stayed at Hotel Croatia, fantastic little hotel.

We're doing Split & Hvar early-mid June. Take those rubber shoes, the beaches tend to be rocky, mostly, though there are some fabulous landlocked pools refreshed at high tide.

Thanks for tips everybody - haven't heard anybody with a bad word to say about the place yet :-)

Big E will be your man for this I think. (Especially if it's gay bars your looking for)

Eindhoven, they all eat Crispy Pancake Rolls or 16oz steaks. The bars are that smokey you can't breathe.
