October 11, 201510 yr Was in Dubrovnik last week which is lovely, looking maybe into the possibility of more of Croatia, Montenegro etc next year. Anybody got places to recommend, not too quiet, enough about the place etc. Kotor for example looks very nice, worth a visit? Kotor and Budva are nice in Montenegro. Mostar is worth a visit in Bosnia. Hvar, Korcela, Mljet are all islands worth visiting. Further up the coast, highly recommend Zadar, cute little place with an walled old town and easy access to Plitvice Lakes. Ryanair fly into here.

October 11, 201510 yr The sad and smelly Deep Purple song "Smoke on the water" was written about Montreux. JSL Edited October 11, 201510 yr by Burndens Bogs
October 11, 201510 yr I hope you're meithering therm to death Nah, they were with their families so wasn't going to bother them. Spearing was indeed one of them, the other was Wheater, who actually said alright to me upon seeing my BWFC polo before I'd even seen him, so he's now automatically my favourite player.
October 12, 201510 yr Smiley, The Montreux area is gorgeous, I've not stayed there, but I've stayed in Evian just over the French border - about 25k from Montreux. You've got the alps on your doorstep and you can get a boat across Lac Leman to Lausanne which is another nice place. It's also fairly easy to drive to Italy Great area to explore. Do it,do it You twisted my arm!! The flights were cheap. And that's were the VFM appears to have ended!!! Do fancy ride on the Golden Pass trains around the Alps - believe they have a glass roof so you can see the mountains, etc.
October 13, 201510 yr It sure isn't a cheap part of the World - it's one of the most beautiful though.
November 27, 201510 yr Not sure if anyone would be interested but there's flights peasant class (Thomson) Manchester-Puerto Vallarta last two weeks of March for the Easter hols period, £429 return...Bargain.
December 5, 201510 yr Marrakech is lovely, but the nonstop mither from the stall/shop people is driving me demented. As are the scooters, mopeds & motorcycles. Mr EG is in 7th heaven as there are cats around everywhere (don't come here if you don't like cats) & he plans to return with cat food...
December 5, 201510 yr Not sure if it's been mentioned but Thomas cook now flying Manchester to LA direct from Spring I've had a look and you can get a return for less than £500 - bargain really I went in August, lived Santa Monica - the coast through Malibu, Santa Barbara and all the way up to San Fran is fantastic Get yourselves involved Edit - they're also doing Cape Town from Spring too for similar money but I think that's only from the south east as of yet Edited December 5, 201510 yr by birch-chorley

Especially chilling in a Riad after the carnage outside! May keep this in mind! Done that drive but in the opposite direction all the way down to San Diego. And would go to and highly recommend Cape Town as well. Stunning. Deliberating over Mexico and/or Portugal for a week or 2 in the summer.
December 5, 201510 yr Just got back to this horrendous weather from Barbados, gutted. Those who mentioned Switzerland should have a look at the Grande Giessbach. Amazing place and scene from the Band of Brothers
December 5, 201510 yr Air New Zealand are or certainly were doing flights for around £200 return from heathrow in feb to L.A. Not sure what the weather is like bit dirt cheap if not a sun worshiper. Out of interest, anyone done the Calgary to Vancouver route or even Seattle via the train? Seattle is ace but considering the main rail journey via Whistler and Jasper
December 5, 201510 yr I loved the madness of it all. Especially chilling in a Riad after the carnage outside! That's what we're doing now I'd also recommend that anyone going to South Africa flies direct & not via Dubai - it doubles the flight time via Dubai. Go direct, or via Jo'burg.
December 6, 201510 yr Skyscanner will show that a quick stop somewhere can save HUNDREDS. London to Johannesburg return direct next month for instance is showing as £971, or £615 with a couple of hours in Zurich either way. Seems a no brainer to me. I found Morocco good but a pain in the arse. Too much fucking hassle. Fez was worse even than Marrakech. Tangier a bit more bearable.

I'd rather have a couple of days extra holiday than spend those 2 days either in the air or hanging around Dubai airport just to save a couple of hundred quid. South African do some good deals direct from LHR to Jo'burg, it was about £325 each way back in September. Horses for courses, as they say... I'm thinking of bringing out a phrase book with: Fuck off Leave me alone I don't want your tat. in every language. Best seller, I reckon.

December 6, 201510 yr And the next time I go to Morocco, I'll be fully burka'd up. I can see why they do it. Hide the blonde hair & fair skin. Mr EG got offered 20 camels for me, haggled them up to 25 when he said I could cook. Think if they'd offered him kittens rather than camels he'd've jumped at it.
December 6, 201510 yr Dealing with mithering, never ever make eye contact, say no firmly and they scarper onto the next one pretty quickly. Works for me anyway.

You're not a blonde 'well fed' woman though. I ignore them, no eye contact like you say unless they touch me I do get a little unpleasant turn and walk away teaching them a few new words
