March 3, 201610 yr Nowhere special this year but we have annual Merlin passes so will be going for weekends away instead, saving up for Florida next year. Just returned from fortnight in Florida. Great time of year to go. Key West, Sanibel Island and finished off in South Beach Miami all linked by Mustang convertible. Downside is that arrival and immigration into Miami airport is a pain in the goddam ass.

Still, it will be worth it; Disney for the kids and Kennedy Space Centre for me and the missus.

Had 4 great holidays there tagged onto a week in Orlando and Tampa from 2003 - 2008.

March 3, 201610 yr Bilbao in 2 weeks If you tire of the city, Sopelana is on the Metro line, lovely beach there, some nice places to eat too, nice and quiet with a rough charm - they've a Pelota Court in the town with an attached bar I think is fascinating.

Only going for 2 nights so won't venture out of Bilbao. If I like it I'll probably do longer next time and take in San Sebastian. I'm sure White's Man has is a regular there. Anyone been to Santander? I think Ryanair are starting flying there later in the year.
March 4, 201610 yr Did 2 nights in Bilbao last year, loved the place. Stayed at the Carlton right on the big roundabout.
March 4, 201610 yr Bilbao - Casco Viejo for the bars, the market there is worth a visit, can be shady in places, I always say 'alreet' to any likely characters - seems to disarm 'em... I love Santander, it's a proper town, no pretensions, but there's great beaches, too. Could go on about the place for ages, absolute must is an early evening mooch down Barrio Pesquero and eat in one of the fish restaurants, not been to Santander in a while (nor Bilbao) but could on about it...Reckon I'll be going this year, bit of a road trip with the two (and Sopelana), down to Madrid and see where else the wind takes us.
