Shedding A Beer Gut

Right, this is just silly now; I am a skinny fucker and always have been but this last 6 months I have grown a belly. I know why, too much beer/wine - not loads all the time but having a couple every night has become a habit. But, as I get older (37 now) I can't rely on my metabolism any more, I need to sort my shit out. So cutting out the midweek drinking is a given but I also want to bulk up a bit, I am 9 stone wet through so some meat on my bones is badly needed and I think will help my overall mental and physical health.

Any advice apart from rubbing my pecs with a bloon would be appreciated.

Losing weight and putting on muscle at the same timeis nigh on impossible unless you live like an Olympic swimmer.

If you want to lose weight cut the ale out for a few weeks and more importantly fuck the carbs off. No bread,no chips, no jackets spuds. Download my fitness pal app if you want to Micro manage your diet further.

If you want to put on muscle that's a different kettle of fish. Eat shit loads of protein and carbs and lift big massive weights. Job done :-)

I am similar mate, thin as fuck with a beer belly, I am 56 though, I have been active all my life, I still am, but the beer just seems to lie on the belly, I walk the dog every day and walk around town instead of driving, I'm too old for 'proper' execise

Gonzo has caught bad aids off casino you want to see if you can get it too

Try, you may be surprised. 64yo beat me at Parkrun last week, just over 24 mins.

Eat good food, all the time. Protein, low GI carbs, good fats with lots of veg. Dont drink calories.

To get rid of your gut running is the key short distances but often and slowly build it up from there

The Gonz is nearly right, protein is the key to putting on muscle but you're better off sorting your body shape out, IMO body shape is better than 2 big lumps on your arms. start with exercising with small weights lots of reps and then increase month by month the weights and still maintain the amount of reps, it's a long process as you get older but it will soon become a habit and enjoyable

Worst bit for me at the moment is my gut but it's slowly going but my arms and chest are feeling very firm

The last place the fat drops off a man is his gut and the first place it goes back on again is his gut

For me you could run and run, but you'll still have a skinny frame with a belly if there's nowt to you

I'd do weights/resistance exercises instead, and make sure you're eating plenty of protein and greens etc as described above

Stick to the main compound (i.e. they hit more than one muscle) exercises like Squats, bench, shoulder press, pull ups, press ups

If you can't be doing with the gym, you could achieve quite a lot by eating better and just doing press ups, squats, lunges, tricep dips etc in your  living room

Running is a bit of a zero sum game IMO for skinny people. It's the skinniness of the rest of your body that makes the gut look big.

Cheers all for your replies. Think I am going to look first of all at improving my diet (just because I am skinny doesn't mean I am healthy) and cutting back on the booze.

For me, going to a gym is just not going to happen so I will start with basic stuff I can do at home.

regular occurance for me..

A lot of proper alkys, not just those playing at it over the weekend but the 24/7 2 litre bottle of White Lightning Youri McAnespie types, are often stick thin. So instead of cutting back on the booze maybe you should turn it up a notch or two?

I'm trying at home first, better diet. Done the running thing but it bores me silly, as does the gym.

Funny when you get to your late 30s, after being skinny having to worry about

Why has nobody mentioned powerwanking yet?

Because I'm still fat

Maybe you're wanking the wrong cock

Do you powerwank your own or somebody elses?

I ain't stick thin, I've a swimmer's build, sort of :), with a small beer gut  - but only because I hardly do a jot of exercise for four months over winter...

And I've told you a million times, White Lightning is no more, I'm on the occasional bottle of Kingstone Press (500ml) these days, not that I'd drank White Lightning since I was about twenty. :)

I've got a quarter of an hour workout that would keep anyone trim and fighting fit, or give them a heart attack, so win-lose - it can be made available on request.

It doesn't involve wanking though and you need some dumbbells (proper 'uns) and a chinning bar.

Best bit of kit to buy if you buy nowt else and have little time to train, heavy bag, second best, skipping rope (hello sailor!)
