birch-chorley
Train from Leeds (direct) takes an hour and 40 minutes. it just over the hill for fucks sake. That's the Blackpool line through banner bridge, Blackburn & Burnley Slow train that stops everywhere, still quicker than via Manc with a change I would have thought (if the trains were running from Manc)

Andydee
The trains are back on from next weekend... Confirmed http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/91457.aspx?nreTrack=EngineeringMay_Oct PAGE LAST UPDATED: 05/10/2015 12:58 Work is continuing, and should have been completed by 4 October. However, Network Rail have confirmed that the work on Farnworth Tunnel is to be extended beyond the original completion date, possibly until December. The reason for this is exceptionally poor ground conditions and unforeseen running sands which the machine has come across during boring. This is slowing the excavation speed and creating voids which need filling with specialist grout before boring can safely continue. Saturdays and Sundays No trains will run between Salford Crescent and Preston via Bolton...... First TransPennine Express All trains are diverted between Deansgate and Preston, calling additionally at Wigan North Western and will not call at Bolton. Replacement buses are running between Preston and Manchester Airport calling at Chorley, Horwich Parkway, Bolton and Manchester Piccadilly. Northern Rail Between Blackpool North and Manchester Victoria Trains will run between Blackpool North and Preston. On Saturday replacement buses will run between Preston and Salford Crescent and on Sunday between Preston and Manchester Victoria. Blondi
We're getting the train from Warrington Bank Quay, according to national rail, the journey takes just 24 minutes, with no changes, happy with that.

Also driving to Burnley as surprisingly trains there are slow too.
