That is fair enough but who is going to select the contractor's?

It's a cross party thing focused on repairing the place. They'd get shit if they pulled it down to replace it with a contemporary replacement so it needs fixing, how it's done is what needs deciding and quick.

The contractor's what? 😁

Butty shop of choice. If they're going to be working for 70 years on the place then the butty budget will be humongous

We could save some money by asking them to bring a packed lunch. Or ask David Lammy to bring some to work with him?

Just saw him on sky news over here....thought he was impersonating me on here on a Friday ☺

After some research there has been no agreement on refurbishment plans for parliament.

Moving everyone temporarily out is estimated to cost between 7-13 billion and be the quickest method.

The longest and most expensive option is trying to work round folk whilst they're still in there and could cost 22bn across up to 70 years.

Someone's making some serious wedge from that.

It's absolutely scandalous and the cost will no doubt increase many fold over, regardless of the government at the time and being a cross party job

The sad thing is....we will need a public inquiry but who does it ?

I work in construction, the amount quoted can rebuild many towns

Kicking the can down the road for years and years is going to keep the price increasing. As the place falls apart more and material costs go up.

20bn over 70 years isn't a lot money wise but it's a daft idea to stretch the work out that long. Lots changes in 70yrs and the work will be outdated before it's even finished.

It'll be tender for those whose government is in power at the time

It's currently being let on a "framework" basis where a select few contractors get paid just for being there... no incentive for being clever and working economically... I've beèn involved in few "preliminary" jobs there over last couple of years, it's going to be a financial bottomless pit, there's a lot of fortunes to be had.

Just sack it off and relocate to a big nearby co working building

Folk over here having a whinge about the Don spending a couple of hundred million on the White House. Meanwhile our Parliament building is going through a 20 billion refit 😂😂

It's because it's The Don innit? If it was that dopey old dodderer they were fawning over a couple of years back they would be praising his vision (the imaginary handshake kind).

From left field but does have a tenuous link; went on a cruise in the V8 up the West Coast Highway with my lad yesterday to raise a glass or two to our great victory last Saturday. Intended lunching and he is a massive fan of gourmet burgers, so we stopped of at a place called The Peach Pit in Scarborough.

I'll wager you can guess what I ordered from the menu :D

Unbelievable isn’t it. No self-awareness. No idea why she thinks it would be different second time around.  Might be a good politician and a decent person - I’ve no idea - but not an electable leader in the US imho.

Oh yes it'll be more than the estimated amount we can't seem to deliver massive projects in this country without going way over budget.

Spending around £2m a week to maintain the place as it is isn't sustainable so something needs doing

Indeed.

Move the centre of government out of London perhaps- it would be cheaper 🤔 . A lot cheaper.

Put migrants into the Palace of Westminster. Sorted.

Read the other day it's costing £1m a day for that new black cat roundabout thingy.

£1m a day!

The Don. Getting it done. Even acknowledged by a senior Tory this week.

How’s that peace deal he sorted in Gaza going?

lollllllllll

Good article about Trump’s meltdown with Canada/Ontario when they ran the ad last week with Reagan’s voiceover on the damage of tariffs, and how this stuff exposes his insecurity and jealousy. A weak man.

Con artists are always aware, at some level, of their own fundamental fraudulence, which is why it can be so dangerous to confront them with the truth. I don’t think Trump’s excessive response at the weekend was down to a political disagreement about tariffs. Instead it was about a man suffering a brief, piercing and clearly quite painful collapse in his self-delusion.

:D Keep up the effort. You will be the one to bring him down before 2029 :rolleyes2:

Happy to keep showing him for who he is, and reminding everyone that every accusation he makes is a confession 👍.

Bolty will kiss boots like a serf, like all the 'visonaries' which means finally someone is more of a boreish hardon that I can get behind.

Its a death rattle, not a future.

I doubt too many are taking too much notice of you matey. Still, I am sure you are important in your particular bubble.

'Visonaries'? 'Boreish'? 'Hardon'? Is the last one a misspelt collider or are you learning Swahili?

As you are in yours.

At least one person is still taking notice though 😉.

I’d like to think he won’t last until 2029. They’ll be someone with a spine/conscience around him who’ll pull the rug eventually.

The term 'wishful thinking' doesn't even come close.

He'd be more likely to find a way for another four years.

It's Halloween - your worst nightmare!:shok:

All this "well 'ard" talk of him forcing under age people to have sec with him, is every bit as pathetic as the guy himself.

More salient point is his stupidity with regard to testing nuclear weapons.

The numbty doesn't seem to understand the difference between testing nuclear warhead delivery systems, and the warheads themselves.

There is absolutely no need to test any- it has been done thousands of times, and there is nothing new to learn that would be advantageous. They can kill millions and make the planet virtually uninhabitable.

Hopefully, it is just another of his ramblings on social media.

He would be far better giving Ukraine more assistance with long range strike capability.

They're doing such a good job in general, but could just do with being able to hit Putin's missile and drone plants.

That would almost certainly bring Russia to the table.
