Why would you agree with someone who is wrong and admitted he was wrong. It’s weird

people aren’t being refused entry because they’re pro Palestine. 🤦🏻

You don't half get fixated on the most ridiculous bullshit. Yes, I agree with Mick that this policy is nonsense and agree with Kent that this place is mental at times. Only you could go into meltdown over that 😄

The administration have quite openly been revoking people's visas because they've expressed Pro Palestine views. Just the other day someone had their ban overturned by a federal court ruling the administration acted unlawfully. She was held for 45 days because she criticised Israel and the US.

Fwiw the left can be just as bad for saying folk aren't welcome if they don't share their opinion.

But you can't defend this - quite clearly more to it than national security.

What would be your defence of the above out of interest?

No meltdown cocker, just wondering  why you would back someone up who admitted he was wrong? Why would you do that?

The hypocrisy on here is on another level.

Nope.

Again copy and paste as it’s easier

Deleting your social media won’t necessarily stop scrutiny—in fact, it can sometimes raise red flags for border officials. Here’s why:

  1. Lack of social media itself can be suspicious
    • If you’re from a country or applying for a visa where social media presence is expected, having no online footprint might prompt extra questions about your background or intentions.
    • Officials might ask why you deleted accounts and could probe more deeply into your travel purpose, work, or personal history.
  2.
  3. Officials have other ways to check
    • Social media is just one tool. They also rely on:
      • Passport and visa history
      • Travel patterns
      • Background checks through law enforcement or immigration databases
      • Employment and education verification
    •
  4.
  5. Deleting vs. hiding
    • Simply deleting accounts before travel is not a guarantee of privacy because past activity may still be archived or cached online.
    • Some travelers choose to create “clean” accounts with minimal information instead of deleting entirely.
  6.

Bottom line: Deleting your social media may reduce some visibility, but it doesn’t guarantee entry will be smoother and can sometimes trigger extra questioning.

If they do go ahead with it I’ll put my left bollock on other countries following. Canada and Oz, as already mentioned, do it to some extent, as do we.

It's okay that you can't defend people being denied based on their political views.... Or because they worked for factchecking organisation...

Just say you can't next time... It'll save you going off on a ridiculous tangent about who said what about some irrelevant bullshit earlier in the thread 😄

When did the UK last stop someone visiting because they didn't like a harmless political opinion?

Or because they worked for a fucking fact checking organisation 😄

It's not the same here.

Might be under Farage.

She was arrested for allegedly engaging in activities in support of Hamas. Literally 1000s of people will be entering America every day who support Palestine, there’s millions in America  who post daily on different platforms in support  Of Palestine. Amazing work on finding one person who was arrested.  The Don really is Clamping down isn’t he 😂🤦🏻

British Border forces check social media. Graham linehan was arrested because he doesn’t like trannies.

When did it last happen in America?

London - “You can’t just say things on social media and get away with it, Joey Barton deserves all he gets”

America - “let’s check people’s social media so we don’t let fkin idiots into the country”

London - “you can’t do that”

what a confused individual

So basically the hypocrites are surely the ones who are all for ID but against a trumps proposal.

You could to choose look at it that way I guess. I suppose you could argue it from either direction. But my thought process on this is - the ID card is relatively unintrusive, and I can envisage a scenario where it might make it easier to control illegal immigration, which seems to be the most important issue to people in this country at the moment.

Where as DTs policy is much more Draconian and I can't see a point to it other than keeping people that don't like him of him out of the country. However flippant that criticism might have been. So it f you ls very much like the thought police really. How strict they are we'll have to wait and see. Will me posting a picture of Donald Trump in a selection of comically long ties keep me out, or is my Donald Trump avatar enough not let me in? 😁

Which is why I think even you did take the contrary position it would be harder to define where the hypocrisy was.

Very interested to hear from anyone who does feel that way though.

Do you think we should bring something similar in over here then or would you be dead against it?

Americas have said they are bringing it in to help the fight against terror……and all those other things on that list I posted before. People on here and elsewhere are suggesting it’s for other things.

Keir Starmer is saying he’s bringing in digital ID to reduce illegal work. Now I think the majority on would agree that’s utter bullshit. So why is he?

As for would I be against it, my view is exactly the same as the ID card. It doesn’t  bother me in the slightest. I can’t for the life of me understand why people are so against/upset about it (though I get their point when they mention why Starmer said he was bringing it in) and that goes for this social media thing. Why are people so worried? And if it does go ahead in America I can see many other countries doing similar in the future.

Yeah I imagine it will go ahead in some other countries if the US adopt it as they're still the world leaders in most things, and countries then to follow. I know I keep using the A word a lot, but a world moving towards authoritarianism isn't something anybody wants to see, is it? @bolty58excepted of course 😁😅

I suppose part of it is that I don't buy the spin that the US scheme has been brought in to fight crime. I think it's been brought in to protect DT from criticism from abroad.

With the ID card - while I don't think it will solve the problem of illegal immigration, I can see it becoming useful as the authorities learn how to utilise it.

Basically - I trust the UK and I don't trust the US. Not to be competent necessarily 😁 but to at least try to do things for the right reasons.

And this might be a good example. Would a post like this be enough to potentially keep me out? You'd like to hooe that even the yanks wouldn't set the bar that low. But I just don't know these days. Nothing would suprise me.

I would like to be at at border control and see their faces when reading the Donald Trump Dead Cat on His head Thread, 😂

Let’s face it, this has little if nothing to do with terrorism or security. As per some of comments above it’s all about the current administration replicating their attempts at silencing dissenting voices/media within the US, to that of potentially preventing folks expressing different political views from entering.

In other words saying hurty words against King Trump.

It’s bizarre given their first amendment rights.

If they do do anything it will be impossible to implement and will be repealed in 3 years time anyway.

In the meantime I’m very happy not to visit the US anyway.

 I'm sure they'll be fucking mortified.

For the record, I am against digital ID's in the UK on the basis of civil liberty incursions affecting UK citizens.

I am for the Dons measures in implementing a way of excluding undesirables from the USA.

I’m sure they don’t care as well….but I feel better spending my tourist dollars elsewhere for now.

I’d have thought ID cards in the UK would be a popular idea for those who wanted to clampdown on illegal migration, benefit fraud, the black economy etc. In other words your good self? I wouldn’t have any objections for these very reasons. Doesn’t affect my personal liberties. Nothing to hide then nothing to fear.

This US/Trump proposal imho is something far sinister. Orwellian in nature it would be looking to punish civilians from expressing political views in public which were different to those held by the current government. Just think if the Dems had proposed this, with a view to profiling dissenting right wingers and refusing US entry. Or if the Dems keep any legislation in place when they next get into power. I doubt you’d be as supportive then. This one isn’t about politics it’s about principles.

I can’t get my head around someone not wanting to go to a country because of who’s in power. (Well excluding those that are at war)

“fancy a lads weekend in vegas”

”na Trumps in charge”

”Fancy doing the west coast of America”

”Na trumps in charge”

“New York”

…….

Same applies to any freak shows who would refuse to come to the UK because  KS is in charge

Neither could I until Trumpy came to power. Different gravy when it comes to intolerance, injustice, discrimination, cruelty and an overall lack of compassion and empathy.

I agree. I don't really like Trump, I think he's an awful human being, although he does give me something to smile about on a daily basis it seems.

However, would my dislike of him stop me having another lads weekend in Vegas, or going to NY or Chicago, absolutely not. In fact, I'm hoping he thoroughly trashes their economy (which I suspect will happen from Q3 2026), so we can get back towards the good old days of $1.50/$1.75 (and above) to the pound, and then I'll be straight back over there as often as possible before somebody eminently more sensible comes in and fixes things 🤪
