July 14, 201610 yr Just think Sam has the Brian Clough effect at the FA, someone to tell em to fuck off if he thinks they are interfering with his plans, and for that reason I think he'll get snubbed again.
July 14, 201610 yr Just hope he had somewhere to put his power point presentation this time. Point 1. Defender. -> Point 2. Large target man.
July 14, 201610 yr Author That article is OK. Last paragraph is obviously silly, but interesting comments from former players. Bring him on.
July 14, 201610 yr Point 3: get someone to stand on the keeper at every opportunity Point 4. Fraser Forster in for Hart, that would save at least 2 to 3 goals a tournament.
July 14, 201610 yr BSA has generally over achieved at clubs with the resources he's had. If he can do that for England, he'll do for me.
July 14, 201610 yr Big Sam would not have taken an out of form Sterling and not match fit Wilshire just because they play for City and Arsenal. He will be a breath of fresh air!
July 14, 201610 yr They do say 'form is temporary class is permanent' however in tournament football form is fucking everything ! Keane & Stirling were shite before the tournament Big Sam would have taken Defoe Give him the job.
July 15, 201610 yr England players are crap. I don't think it matters who get it. Good pay day per work ratio though
July 15, 201610 yr England players are crap. I don't think it matters who get it. Good pay day per work ratio though So are the Icelandic, Italians, Welsh and Portuguese (the latter two had one good un each). Organisation and motivation is the key.
July 15, 201610 yr So are the Icelandic, Italians, Welsh and Portuguese (the latter two had one good un each). Organisation and motivation is the key. But most of those teams know they're rubbish and play accordingly. England players will always go in thinking they're great, because nobody tells them otherwise.
July 15, 201610 yr But most of those teams know they're rubbish and play accordingly. England players will always go in thinking they're great, because nobody tells them otherwise. Hrmm. So BSA should sit them down in the dressing room and tell em they are not as good as they think they are before they go out to play? I don't think Conti et al did that.
July 15, 201610 yr But most of those teams know they're rubbish and play accordingly. England players will always go in thinking they're great, because nobody tells them otherwise. I'd say it's the opposite. I think English players have got an inferiority complex. I also think we're almost apologetic when we play teams we are expected to beat. Player for player we were certainly good enough to get into the quarters. After that it would have been a lottery.
July 15, 201610 yr Hrmm. So BSA should sit them down in the dressing room and tell em they are not as good as they think they are before they go out to play? I don't think Conti et al did that. Bang on.

Coach comes in and tells everyone we ought to thrash Italy. They do.
July 15, 201610 yr As has been shown by the rugby lads. Coach comes in and tells everyone we ought to thrash Italy. They do. Nah that's more to do with bringing in elements of rugby league skill.
July 15, 201610 yr They are crap. It gets disguised in the premier league by the far better foreign players. We lost to Iceland, can anyone really defend them?
July 15, 201610 yr Author They are crap. It gets disguised in the premier league by the far better foreign players. We lost to Iceland, can anyone really defend them? The top two goal scorers were English playing against better foreign defenders quite frequently. There's something massively wrong but they can't all be crap or they wouldn't be at top clubs.
July 15, 201610 yr The top two goal scorers were English playing against better foreign defenders quite frequently. There's something massively wrong but they can't all be crap or they wouldn't be at top clubs. I think it's a product of all our players playing in the same league. A group of 20 teams generates a brand of football only known to those involved. Our players need to play in other leagues like other countries players do. Trouble is they'd have to take a pay cut to do it.

July 15, 201610 yr They can defend against them. A plus one from me. That is what Sam would install. Like Italy, be organised at the back no matter how poor your players are and then go from there. That way you liberate the 3 or 4 forward players.

When the Argies return to the squad its like a home coming, they gel quickly and its like a long lost reunion and party. Unfortunately we don't have that so our model has to be different. Round pegs in round holes and a manager that motivates. Some years we will be shit and others better depending on player quality, trouble is we have spent 40 years trying to be something we are not. We wasted 2004 til now thinking we could play like Spain. We can hold the ball if we are confident but getting it forward quickly is not the bad option many think it is.
July 16, 201610 yr The top two goal scorers were English playing against better foreign defenders quite frequently. There's something massively wrong but they can't all be crap or they wouldn't be at top clubs.I think this is kind of my point. They had a far better supply line at their clubs than they ever will for England. I'm also not sure that playing for England is seen as a big an honour anymore as it seems to be for other nations and their players. You always used to get a story of someone missing out being devestated, didn't hear a thing this time.
