kent_white Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 According to the BBC website- Sam was known as 'Big Sam the Bionic Man' by Wanderers fans in the 70's because of his tough tackling? Can anybody confirm or deny this rumour? Quote
bwfc2003 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 According to the BBC website- Sam was known as 'Big Sam the Bionic Man' by Wanderers fans in the 70's because of his tough tackling? Can anybody confirm or deny this rumour? Correct - but Super Sam - Bionic Man - follwed by the rythmic hand clap - there were also a few publicity shots done of him done up as Incredible Hulk - I think sat astride a tank for some reason Quote
Farrelli Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 SSBM was due to the way he attacked the ball at corners more than his tackling. Quote
bwfc2003 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 SSBM was due to the way he attacked the ball at corners more than his tackling. Aye - someone get the sunderland goal at the embankment up Quote
Zico Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Phil Brown sniffing round for a job now: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36865806 Southend United boss Phil Brown would be interested in the England assistant manager's job if he was offered the role under Sam Allardyce. Quote
bgoefc Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Assistant ? Best mates so maybe. Though conspiracy theorists might say the FA not announcing BSA that they might just hand it to Bruce? Quote
bgoefc Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Either that or take the Sunderland job?? They sacked him in 2011. Quote
Con Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 They sacked him in 2011. Aye, I know, but he's 2nd favourite in the bookies odds. Quote
1969 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 It would be bloody great if BSA thought I fucking hate that French pedo I know I'll play Holding and make him captain (in a meaningless friendly) So it triggers some of those bonuses Quote
BOWTUN BAKED Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 It would be bloody great if BSA thought I fucking hate that French pedo I know I'll play Holding and make him captain (in a meaningless friendly) So it triggers some of those bonuses I like your thinking! I'm off to buy some brown envelopes. Then I'll pop round to Sam's for a brew Quote

deane koontz Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Been reading his book most of the day. Great insight into the workings of football and his take on his time at Bolton. I always thought he was good but some of the stuff he put into practice was light years ahead of its time. Pity Coyle threw it all away and brought in the table tennis tables. I take it's a good book then, I think i'm gonna make the purchase this weekend. I had an erection from the idea of Sam having a "war room" during his time with us. Quote
tomski Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 I thought it was very run of the mill and stop reading it when he went to Newcastle Quote
