Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Lad's got a hudle which doesn't seem to want to charge at all. My Alcatel is going the same way. The leads have gone loose in the socket and its almost impossible to get it in the right place to charge. I've tried putting tape round the 'male' bit to make it tighter but it doesn't improve things. Are these things repairable (at not too great a cost)? Quote
Carlos Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 My Hudl2 cost next to nothing, fixing a usb socket should be easy but not sure if it's worth it. Quote
H Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 My mobile went the same way. Bought a new charging cable (belkin)and problem resolved Quote
DazBob Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Think it's a common problem with Hudls. Same thing happened with the bird's. As it was under a year old Tesco replaced it. Same thing happened with the replacement just over a year later. Tried a few places thinking a repair would be cheap and easy but nobody would touch it. Finally found a place in town and they wanted £40. Fuck that. Get a new one or pay for something that's a bit dearer but more robust. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 20, 2016 Author Posted July 20, 2016 Suspected this might be the case. Thanks fellas, what's currently around that's decent and robust. He only plays games and occasional internet. Quote

The basic 7" Kindle Fire is only £49.99 I know some people don't like them, but they're pretty good if somebody only wants to plays games and use the internet - depending on his age, you can put a "child monitor" on it as well so that he can't enter sites or watch adult content stuff. It's also a pretty robust bit of kit as well, I've got one......although I only use it for watching TV/Films on when she's DIY SOS or whatever other shit happens to be on the TV Quote

It's bobbins in comparison to the hudl. Quote

Are these things repairable (at not too great a cost)? the amazonbasics cables are tight (taught , tort ?) and don't do that stupid disconnect thing when half way thru copying stuff to and from devices. Dunno if that's just me that that happens to. their chargers are also high 2.1amp ones, which might also help. ymmv Quote
