These guys are ome of my favourite bands, a progessive, working class group of lads who are a total antidote to the cynicism of Brexit and the likes of Paul Handy Shandy https://www.theyounguns.co.uk/ytv

Give them another listen. Strangers album is where to start.

I don't mind that album. Worked with him on The Last Ship, he's actually a really decent bloke.

I do quite like artists who sing in their real accent...

It's just a pity the Boltonian accent isn't the most flattering.

I might give them another go, got to be in the mood for certain stuff tho'...

From what I heard of it I didn't mind that Sting stuff.

I quite like it when they do stuff for art rather than $.

Bizarrely I've been listening to quite a bit of female R'n'B past day or so.

That song they play at the stadium before games this season - I really want to like it, I keep giving it a go.

But it just sounds like someone listened to Gerry Cinnamon too much and decided to do the same but with a Fred Dibnah accent.

Come and get yer black bin bags...

Is that the one about no one liking us? It's really bad.

It’s not true either. During our premier league pomp, plenty of fans from other teams - especially down south - were behind us most weeks

Yet it's not as bad as that other composition they started with this season.

An holiday record they plugged to fuck in the discos at Ag Nick, Crete in 83.

If it’s 80’s holiday song memories were on about, this fucking thing was played everywhere in Spain til about 1995 I reckon:

Ha ha, it had a good mileage of at least 10 year with songsters walking down the prom in Blackpool singing it.

Not long after I turned 18, I packed my worldly possessions into a spotty hanky on a stick, climbed the rickety stairs to the old Just Flights and spent nearly my life savings on a flight to Spain from Major's crummy Britain, with about £400 to live off (half Pesetas, half Traveller's Cheques and £5 for the train if/when I came back), I also took a tent from Argos and a sleeping bag from 'The Spastics' Society'* shop...

This had been out ages there and was playing everywhere you went, but you never saw her only heard her...

When circumstances forced me to return to this rainy miserable shithole it'd finally been released here too, and was playing eeverywhere here - except there were now visuals, so you could now put a face to one's hands on penis...

A cheesy as fuck crap song that never fails to put a smile on my face as it reminds me of my first taste of pure freedom.

My bottle-boy mates waited 'til their 20's before doing owt similar, and went mob handed and knowing where they were going/sleeping. When I landed, alone, I had a vague idea and a pamplet from The Spanish Tourist Board - 'Hoteles, Pensíons y Campings (Provincia De Las Palmas, Canarias Este).

Oh aye, and a very limited phrasebook.

* That's what it was called then, 'Dr' Feelgood, before you start.

Listening to James live, one of the bands I've never seen live and lived since Gold Mother - Where is the Love is one of my favourite songs of all time.

Love to see them at a festival.

Love James. Amazing live. One of the best.

I was given a set list by Tim Booth when he did a benefit gig at the octagon a few years back. It was a scaled back acoustic set and utterly brilliant.

Seen them a few times and always a great show

I'd schooled the 2 eldest in the ways of James since they were young uns and both said they were absolutely appalling the other year live, think one said embarrassing. I blamed myself rather than the band.

Get to see them at a smaller venue. Blackpool ballroom would be my go to, great live , crowd is always on top form. Proper knees up stuff.

Missed out on seeing them at Blackhealth for free a few years back as the kids were too young and it gets a bit moody at night.

Shame, sure they'll be around again.

They have been hit and miss. But they were top drawer a couple of weekends back at Neighbourhood in Warrington. Both my daughters opted to go see Easy Life in a tent.

Have to give The Hara a quick mention. Saw them perform at NBHD as well. Got some proper catchy anthems. Look of Green Day about them. One of the band is from Bolton. Probably appeal a lot to the younger generation than old fossils like myself. But I do enjoy a band willing to try different stuff and use shock tactics to draw a crowd.

Watching TOTP 1991, some reet shite.

Michael Bolton - was always curious about his surname.

I nearly did a term exchange at CCSU and in the course of my research found out there was a heavy Bolton and Lancashire presence in Connecticut when it was founded.

So he's probably one of us, unfortunately.

Didn't go in the end - I thought going to NYC (from New Britain, CT) was like nipping into Manchester - wrong.

Plus the bumph prospectus etc. didn't have one single picture of an American Cherry Pie Cheerleader I could convince I was a minor Royal.

It would've been a dear do, too.

We did have a lad come here, an Italian American called Tony, who had a greaseball ponytail and leather jacket and Sopranos accenct. He was quite unprepossessing, but had to spend four months being berated and blamed for all of America's flaws, ills and foibles by everyone (apart from me).

When he was going home the same bellends asked him what he'd miss most - obviously fishing for a comment like "you guys" etc. instead he thought a while and then said in a laconic voice "Kebabs..."
