We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

My criteria is based on history, trophies won, but more importantly even today, we are getting 22,000 fans on average after 5 consecutive seasons in the 3rd tier.

My point is the board and the players on the pitch need to show the same drive and ambition as the fans are that are turning up week in week out.

History is irrelevant.

It's now that counts.

It's a bit like utd fans moaning because they weren't winning after fergie left- you still have to earn it.

As for the board, we have no idea of what drive they are showing, but my guess based on previous observations is that they are very committed.

They have revived the club and helped regain its reputation, grown it, and brought in outside investment. They don't stick their nose into SS's area, which he will be pleased with.

Part of that management, is not spunking money we don't have. This point has been made several times- no one wants a return to the boom and bust of before.

It's up to the playing side of things now to achieve the success: that's when the history part may help, but only if those players want to achieve things, rather than think they've made it, and are happy to earn reasonable money without busting a gut.

Again, that is down to the recruitment, coaching and managerial staff.

Perhaps,   its not a case of getting rid of the better players and is actually a case of savings and cut backs on the cash situation.   Contracts, wages may need bringing right down !

Sheehan gets a lot of stick for sideways/backwards passing.  Just watch him in his next game though, how often is there an option for him to pass it forwards?  His fellow midfielders have been doing fantastic impersonations of Derik over the last few weeks.

Aye, and apart from Sheehan none of the fuckers even seem fit! Fuck knows what they're doing in training

Cogley like Vic and Forrester would have been out of contract in May all three would not make the match day squad so we have saved roughly 15k a week and we also got a nominal fee for all three which is a further bonus.

Forrester is good enough to start, but his injury record held him back time after time.

Vic is poor as a forward but is no worse than the forwards we currently have, but i imagine they will also be gone come Summer.

JDC is a wingback and simply do not play with wingbacks currently, and if one more game meant triggering a contract extension it is right we move him on now.

Some rumours about disharmony in the camp, not a prayer these three are part of that. Happy that they have been moved on for football reasons and all three will receive a warm welcome on their return.

He's the only fucker who ever seems to want the ball.

He then has to pass it sideways or backwards because there isn't a forward pass available to him.

He's far and away our best and most intelligent midfielder.

Aye, You can see him waiting till the last second at times for them to take up a decent position. Its like he's baby sitting.

Correct. Sheehan gets pelters based on perceived limitations / issues with the way he plays. I’d argue the limitations / issues aren’t Sheehan related but the lads he’s playing with and/or the system he’s being asked to play in.

you can’t pass forward if the only options are sideways or backward.

that’s the way football is these days. Keeping the ball and playing safe is better than taking a risk and losing it. Players are conditioned to only operate in certain areas when we have the ball. “Be in X spot when the balls here. Or Y spot if it’s played to him over there” it’s taken the freedom out of players.

As such, Sheehan is forced to make a safe pass as that’s the only option available

Palace have recalled Imray from Blackpool apparently.

That's a huge blow for them he's fucking mustard.

No way he's playing in the prem for them....

He is the same for Wales.

I think there is chicken and egg here though.

There are times when he could make a pass forward, but he does go safe.

In time that will result in players not making those runs.

I'd rather he made some, and if they don't come off, then at least he tried.

He could also berate and shout at his team mates for not making runs early enough.

Tomo got pelters for giving the ball away at times, but he was a more front foot type, looking to get it forward quickly.

Swings and roundabouts.

Sad to see Cogley go. Pretty much an ever-present for 2 full seasons, and he always put a good shift in. Bags of energy. Baffling really. Something must have gone on behind the scenes to see him drop so far out of favour.

Glad to see the back of him, the best passer back in the league, signed from a league 2 team, thats his level. SS as finally seen sense, and hes the only person that matters!

Cogley will not be missed wasn’t that  good of a defender very weak and easily knocked off the ball he was good at throwing his arms about when things went wrong.

In one!

This is the type of player we should be going for to take the problem right back spot.....Doubt he is going higher than lge1 at present

He's an attacking player isn't he? More winger than full back.

Palace would leave him at Blackpool if he's not going higher than L1. I suspect theyve had a bid from a championship club.

He comes too deep to get it though. That's the easy place to have the ball. Stay in midfield and have the defenders pass it into him there and he'll be more effective imo. He's got the capability to operate in the tighter areas of midfield, rather than being practically in defence

Randall gone yet ?

Keep seeing that we are signing Paul Mullin ?   i hope not

He doesn't seem to have much difficulty stepping up to play for Wales, in a more suitable system and with players around him who give him good options. He isnt the problem at ours, those around him and those managing him (x2 inc Evatt) are.

A victim of L1 level managers falling into the 'he's a this but he's not a that' trap

Have to disagree there.

He hasn't been a huge regular for Wales in his career, and I don't see him as an international star for them.

If Wales were of a higher calibre internationally, he wouldn't be anywhere near the team now.

He's a league one player.
