We got rid of Pratley and Henry, would Gary O’Neil really be an upgrade on those two? I know we’re having to look in the bargain basement again, but rather us be looking to sign some younger players with some potential and a bit to prove.

its where you get those from which is the problem? 

 

other clubs in and around you your paying a fee, Prem clubs its a loan and the players will have very little experience. particularly in a tough Championship.

 

tough balancing act. I do think a number of the outstanding players we need will be young lads on loan but we also need that Henry / O'Neil type of experience 

O'Neil puts his foot in good squad player

Cotterill is a step up from Pratley imo

The goalie looks a good prospect .

Lowe sure. O'Neil? Barely played last season and is 35. He was good when he could run, but now? Unconvinced. But he's on trial and I trust Parky's judgement.

Henry made 15 (12 starts) appearances for QPR the season prior to when he joined us. O'Neil made 7 appearances last season - only 2 starts, and several of those appearances were for less than 5 minutes at the end of a game.

 

So I think there is a difference between the two.

in the grand scheme of a season 10 game difference is fuck all and im sure those stats wont influence a signing or not.

 

if they did we wouldn't of signed Kirchoff 

 

the point is, there are question marks about age, legs & ability to still play at that level. Those factors will dictate a deal. nothing else. So for everyone worried about whether O'Neil can do the above the case & point is Henry

 

adding to the fact Bristol City had quite a successful season and had a few options in the centre of the park last season. We didnt. O'Neil obviously didnt get the game time he wanted, Henry no doubt played more than anyone including himself ever imagined

Give the lad a chance (more than 20 minutes in the first game) before you start with all the negativity FFS 

 

It's about this season not about living in the past

Think thats the big question over him.

 

Could be worth a free, short term contract.

If we’re interested in Wildschut, I’d imagine it would be a loan deal, Think Norwich paid about 7 million for him and they’ll want some cash back no doubt.
