Anyway, they're on a very tight schedule and pricing is always an issue with them, because they're Italian. So, they've just advised me they're buying from Germany instead, as we can't guarantee that there won't be some sort of hold up, or tariffs applied by the time the goods are ready in January......unless we're willing to absorb any tariff/uplift that may apply, which of course we can't agree to. As well as the cost, it's the uncertainty on the delivery as well, as they don't want the product delayed any longer than it needs to be.

We can't even do a direct shipment to them from HK, as we actually need to do something to the product before they can handle it. It's not a lot of business, maybe only around $60K, but we've just handed it straight to our competitor in Germany, which is a pisser.......and I've lost the £520 commission it would have given me, which is neither here not their in all honesty, but it's still not great

If a random German walked up to you in the street and took £520 out of your pocket, you'd feel differently.

I know, it's just tough shit though innit, I'll be earning far more money once this deal is signed, or even if we go WTO, so it'll be worth it in the end, so I'm told 🙂

Not much chance of that happening in the next 10 or 20 years I'm afraid, if anything I suspect they'll become even more dominant in the field of Electronics (the sort I deal in) over the coming years

I know, its something you've said lots. Which is a great shame. Just thinking aloud really- only talking on the bbc the other day how increasingly, China is falling out with nations which is potentially affecting their trade.

Something will give eventually, probably when shi Jinping croaks.

Maybe, but I'm not sure that Xi Jinping is going anywhere in the near future, he's like Putin, he's staying forever!
