I can't see the SNP finding another leader like Nicola Sturgeon in a hurry.

Politically I'm probably aligned more closely with her than many other UK politicians. And she's always seemed very competent. But I'm passionate about the union and would hate to see it break up.

Plus I love a good political scandal. And all of this seems to have been times perfectly.

Dirty tricks all over the place! 😁

She isn’t competent, far from it

Let em go then. It's going to happen sooner or later

The majority of Scottish people are sound, lovely people. If you check your stats, the majority of people didn't vote for her rabid Nationalists in 2014, they purely won the vote of those who did turn out.

Education, health, drugs, vaccine being major instances.

But interesting how smart people, like Kent, are conned.

Spin and lies go a long way in politics.

How are we defining nationalism?

I just want to get ahead of any potential flash points.

Thanks.

What she is threatening to do re telling the EU the info on our vaccine supplies is akin to certain other Nationalists who told the SS about having Jewish neighbours.

She is literally putting lives at risk.

Exactly mate, she has more spin than Shane Warne

Nationalism is generally defined as :

identification with one's own nation and support for its interests, especially to the exclusion or detriment of the interests of other nations.”

Kinell, she's that far left of you, she's a winger on an adjacent pitch.

All fair points

Can we stick a pin in that whilst I just establish if nationalism is good or bad?

Id rather be ahead of this particular curve.

Add “hatred” and you’ve got her

Bad mate, very bad indeed. She is dangerous and manipulative. If she had the button, God help us.

Thankfully, the only button she has is tickled by her French chick.

👍

But moving away from Sturgeon for a moment, is nationalism itself a good thing, or a bad thing?

This focus on Sturgeon is slightly misplaced.

It's fascinating how the SNP because a socially liberal movement, very different from most nationalist parties hence their success. This article from 2015 explains the change better than I ever could. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/may/21/how-alex-salmond-nicola-sturgeon-pulled-off-political-triumph-lifetime

Totally different now fella. So much has happened since then.

Cheers.

So how do you separate nationalism from desiring independence?

Using an example - Let’s say Brexit - is wanting independence and nationalism not basically the same thing?

It's sovereignty innit. Not being told by those bureaucrats in Westminster, I mean Brussels....

Oh knickers.
