There is no argument to make that the AoU played an important developmental part, it doesn't exist in a nationalistic vacuum, so not sure what point you are making. I was simply making the point that Scottish independence also has roots in a flourishing intellectual movement, is not just a simplistic fuck you to England. Even if they leave, our histories, like those of Ireland and the States will be inextricably linked. Quote
