No.

But I’m banned from moaning so I’ll just say we are praying

You’re not banned from anything.

I was in purchasing in engineering for 12 years. Started off as Buyer then Senior Buyer, Materials Manager then Purchasing Manager. I never once resorted to praying. Have any of your purchasing people been over there to try and sort out these issues or are they all whinging on social media?

Bolton connection

One small boy is Bill Naughton’s  best novel for me. About a young lad from Ireland brought up in Bolton. Well worth a read.

Our buyers are using teams etc.

Not sure how meeting a Bulgarian in person will alter the new paperwork between the uk and the eu but I will mention it and see if they’re missing something 😊

So there’s a Bulgarian involved now. All seems a bit complicated. Believe me, face to face meetings are better than a hundred emails. More so if you make the effort to fly across Europe.
If jobs and the business is on the line then you should do whatever it takes.

I agree about face to face

Always the best option

Stil don’t see how it would change the situation at the border, unless I’m missing something?

And yes, Bulgaria, Greece are the current mob we deal with.

More like it.

At least you’re prepared to reach down and offer a hand rather than try and pick holes in my situation.

Do I need my own chamois leather?

We had your CV the other day.
The patronising bit was the only thing anyone on here could relate to.

Didn’t see any experience relating to buying of raw materials from Europe.
Stick to what you know.

Watch and learn indeed. So good you said it twice.

No I’ve got all the gear and fuck all

idea.

and I’ve never picked holes in your situation you will find. Far from It. I genuinely sympathize with everyone suffering especially you being someone I “know” from here.

I wish I could offer you hope it will be sorted tomorrow.  genuinely.

You say they won’t ship for fear of goods being stuck at the docks. Can you not pay for the goods on sight of documents? That way the supplier surely would ship.

Suspect they may already use letters of credit for their imports? @Spiderdo you or that not your side of the business the finance side?

problem Is mounts I think they can sell the raw product inside the Eu without any trouble I think so no desire on their part to incur the hassle?

Did you pay a premium for the product previously compared to the eu purchasers or was it just the relationship that maintained your supply?

For the record, I’m not trying to pick holes. I’ve been in your situation many times. My attitude now is how my bosses reacted when I thought all was lost. They always looked for an alternative, lateral thinking was their mantra. If your in a position of influence, then being positive is invaluable.

When I started my business 20 years ago, I got a business starter pack from Barclays. One of the first questions was:

When something goes wrong, do you automatically blame someone else?

If the answer is yes, don’t start your own business.

You may misunderstand the situation a bit. And I’m not being twattish (normally I am).

The supply chain is fine. The product exists. The usual vagaries of the exchanges remain a daily carpet ride.

The only thing that’s changed is the paperwork at the border. There are no other borders we can turn to.

I know it’ll get sorted, I’m not that naive. My issue is the damage being done now. It’s really bad.

It’s possible they could go ex works and and arrange for shipment themselves and if payment was upfront before shipment then you’d hope that would help secure the goods.

Can I just say finally that both my sons have had similar lectures when they worked for me. It’s really nothing personal.
Having said that, neither of them work for me anymore. Their choice. 😊
