Nothing tongue in cheek. People have previously compared our economic woes with Europe when it suited them to show how bad we are doing. There really is very little difference, in fact they are now fairing worse with inflation.

Aye, Boby's just yanking chains - loves a good polemic.

The ECB raised interest rates to 1.25%, expected to rise to 3%. Our Central Bank raised interest rates to 2.25%, expected to rise to 6%, and had to buy £65Bn in Government Bonds to counteract the self-inflicted chaos a week ago. As you say - perspective.

Expected is the key word. The BOE are not very good at predictions.

Yeah, heard that yesterday on The Rest is Politics.

That, Newscast and the News Agents have been a joy to listen to. All of them incredulous.

ungrateful bastards.

I know 👏👏👏

Apparently some are choosing not to eat at work so they can afford to feed their kids at home. Some are even calling in sick the day before their shift as they have no money for transport.

But we need to give the wealthiest companies & bankers more money. Otherwise we will have no nurses at all. And anyone who doesn't understand that - then there's no point explaining it to them 😆

Here's an idea ... If there's really no money for a real terms pay rise then how about free public transport and hospital meals in the meantime?

Hope you have two blankets up on Winter Hill today, it’s expected to be cold😀

A visual representation of how much the "mini-budget" is going to cost us. Frightening.

This never fails to blow my mind:

1 million seconds is roughly 11 days.

1 billion seconds is roughly 31 YEARS.

Yeah, the BoE should have used their magic powers to guess the details of Kwarteng's mini-budget, just like the OBR should've published a forecast despite never being consulted or commissioned to do so, even though they offered.

My mrs who is a PR and does a lot with regionals, and the presenters are really stong and they actually listen to their public audience was just amazed they took this course of action thinking she would get an easier ride.

saw an amusing tweet yesterday suggesting Prince Andrew's PR advisors have got themselves a new gig

While the pound has stabilised since the 65 billion was chucked in it’s not really recovering at any great rate to the dollar, BOE better get a move on with interim rate rise and the OBR better get the forecasts for the mini budget published… if as I expect it’s a shit show.. then KK better roll the dice again.
