Looks left, looks right and asks, “If anyone of my colleagues would like to jump in here?” roughly equates to, “For fuck’s sake, help me to stop digging!”

Who the fuck gave her the top job?

It's arrogance. Plain and simple

Cheers mate - we get plenty of coverage of UK politics down here but scant reporting on Ireland which is a surprise really as there are plenty of your fellow countrymen out here. Thanks for the update.

I should probably mention it in the TV Shows thread but we have a documentary on at present down here (Claremont: A Killer Amongst Us) about the Claremont rapist who terrorised Perth for a good few years. One of the lasses the bastard did was Irish heritage and he took her on Paddy's Day after she'd been out celebrating. Shows a quite substantial march by the Irish community through the city (spoiler alert - don't watch it if ginger minge silly wigs and fat leprechauns do your head in). You'd think we'd get more coverage of Irish news down here.

Probably due to the fact in the main events in Ireland would have little effect in general, whereas events in UK usually do along with the whole “ mother land “ thing from the past .
plus, my fellow countrymen would be from Breightmet 😁, parents are Irish, spent a lot of time there including a good spell living over there , very proud of my connection with the place, a obsession with its history and sport especially , but the green rolling hills and rivers of Garstang ave is my home, like the lad with Ukrainian heritage earlier in the thread, I’m equally proud and defensive of my connection to both places .
find myself being called an Irish cunt here and an English cunt there .
well balanced 😁

Does anyone know how people from East Africa are meant to get here like the MP asked? Just watched it on the news again, surely it’s the same for people wanting to get to any country?

They can't. They can get on a dinghy in northern France but they are also then illegal apparently.

What's the story with folk with money and a passport? Can't they just get on a ferry or a plane and come for a "holiday"?

Once here....

Bolty has nothing but praise for Ireland and indeed all the home nations

Net migration was 500k this year. Lots of tem are students. Sponging cunts.

EU migrants  dropped again though by almost 100,000. My Polish welders seem to have convinced a fair few more to go home because they don't like me.

Just seen that, it's something like x3 what it was last year...

1.1M arrived, with about 750K of them from "outside the EU"

600K have left, with around 300K of them re-locating back to the EU

I'm assuming a shit load of that number must be from Ukraine....

I am glad that the Conservative Party are strict on immigration though, and not like Labour who would let loads in.....apparently

Move to another African state that isn’t a war zone then, it’s much closer than coming all the way here.

So those coming over in boats is about 40k so far this year right? Of which apparently 70% are successful so about 28k are here to stay which is about 11% of all immigration, is that right?

Yeah

And apparently none of them can weld steel the sponging wankers

Business groups and unions are urging the government not to go ahead with plans to ditch a wide range of EU laws, warning the move could cause "confusion and disruption" in the UK.

Indeed  -I'm perfectly happy not to let any of them in, even if they are truly seeking asylum, but I know, as do you, it's not that simple

That's exactly what the massive, overwhelming majority do.  In the scenario that the minister outlined where someone in that situation has a relative already living in this country, there is no legal route for them.  I thought the Tories main motivation for their Rwanda policy was to break the people smuggling Gangs? This plays right into their hands

Has it ever occurred to you that 90% of folk fleeing warzones actually settle close to home?

I suspect it hasn't

It's also highly likely that conditions in those places are such utter shit that it's worth risking life and limb to "win" yourself a room at a 2 star English hotel with 3 butties a day.

I know that not all immigrants are good lads fleeing wars, but the majority are and as Brexiteers constantly remind us, we're the greatest nation on earth - with great power comes great responsibility and a decent amount of basic compassion for your fellow man.

Not everyone had the good fortune to be born British.

Of course, if you don't like what we're becoming, Spain and Australia are nice and warm.

Foreign students are the only way a lot of universities and colleges can remain financially viable to be fair. There are way too many degree courses with only 4% of Brits getting a degree in the 70s and and now it's nearer 40% - so the degrees themselves are devalued when it comes to getting a job because every other c*** has one - but this whole education sector has expanded into a fat cash cow - partially due to successive governments massaging the real unemployment figures by sending more school leavers to study whilst UK industry declined instead of them getting "proper jobs" or apprenticeships by leaving it to the private sector to cherry pick.

Too many "universities" for that matter with the likes of BIT and Manc Poly styling themselves as Universities - it's a bad joke. Worse still the practical skills that students at the likes of BIT used to learn (including welding) are getting lost in the process.

But as long as foreign students are prepared to pay through the nose to study here, what can you do?

Average student fees for Brits are currently £6842 pa whilst average for foreign students is £14096 for the exact same course.

I've supplied kit to a lot of the new student accomodation buildings that have gone up/are going up in and around Salford and Manchester.

It's largely Chinese government money masquerading as investment hubs.

In short - the Chinese givernment pay for their brightest students to come and study at British uni's, and they even build the digs. It's mental how much they've spent in and around that area.

However, there is a slowdown around the corner and it's looking like a few buildings may not be completed.

Actually, I got my decimal place wrong, it is 1.4%. Yet this is Rishi's number one priority according to him.

They're still in "Fuel the Far Right base" mode. The sooner they snap out of it the better, but it's not happening any time soon. Probably see sense if/when they lose the next General Election.

I know Cheese in real life. The fact that you think I might be him is incredibly insulting.
