Seems the tactic is working, pages of chat about immigration when the biggest crisis we are facing is inflation.

They'd rather we just focus of people with no power risking their lives rather than the mess of the economy.

Why not just do their job properly? You do realise this "crisis" is entirely of their own making, don't you?

He doesn't understand how government actually works, this will be a stretch.

Yes, deal with illegals quicker and at the same time look at antiquated law that’s used to trip up the government, both can be looked at and improved.

Which law/laws do you think need changing?

 Good old Jair. It won't be long before you scrape the bottom by using the Hitler insult.

Agree with your first sentence mind. Traf's been saying it for years.

They also seem to be forgetting that concerns over immigration have dropped way down in the polls. Now sitting far behind the cost of living, the economy and climate change. Sitting at no fckin 8 in this chart.

What a waste of money and time this Rwanda fiasco has been.

Clear the backlog and let’s have much bigger sentences for traffickers and start catching them. Let’s also let those waiting work in the process, so we don’t have to pay them and they can have some dignity in the process.

And then can we move on and grapple with the issues voters most care about.

If you believe that illegal immigration is sitting at number 8 your are in for a big shock matey.

Who did they poll? Students and rent a mob protestors by any chance?

An immediate post WW2 policy can surely be described so?

How would you label a Ford Anglia? Beautiful and desirable yes but anything but modern.

Is it ok to think the boats need stopping but the tories are shit and moving them to Africa is a ridiculous idea?

Just asking like.

It seems not, every time government attempt to deal with illegal immigration there is a backlash from the left, woke, liberals, immigration charities, resulting in a court case, most folk want our government to actually be able to govern without oversight by the aforementioned do gooders, if that means we have to review or actively push for change in outdated international law, then so be it.

There is a back lash because everything this bunch of useless cunts come up with is bollocks.
Do you think there would have been a back lash if in last 14 years the Govt had invested in better systems and processes to deal with the back log ? trained and retained enough staff to deal with the back log ?

Read my post. As usual they have trotted out their three line meaningless slogans 'stop the boats'. And then come up with policies that are questionable morally and legally. The backlash you talk about is the screen they use to hide their incompetence. You can only successfully challenge something in court that is legally flawed. So we spend millions on something shit that does not work and ignore the thing that is broken and is 100% in your control. They then blame everyone else as you are doing.

Every area of public service from the NHS to tax office. Broken by the Tories who take no responsibility for anything , more concerned with blaming others and infighting.

Dont be ridiculous.

The Tories are wonderful.

I think folk can make the distinction between the Tory shit show and the usuals seemingly wanting to stop government attempting to enact any policy on reducing illegal immigration, furthermore if law is being used that was passed in relation to refugees after WW11 and has nothing to do with the economic migrants we are faced with these days  then I’m all for modernising that law.

I hope they didn’t vote Tory or one might suggest it’s their own fault and they need to take ownership of their clearly terrible decision.

Again, you do seem to be getting there and realising this 13 year run of diarrhoea is finally being exposed for what it is.

Well done old timer.

It can't be that bad surely, as, usually his own words, we've had "the next Thatcher" and somebody "Churchillian" running the show during that time, so surely everything is great. Unless he's now happy to admit, the Conservative Party (as it stands) is utter dogshit, and it's gradually worse.

Whichever law our government sees fit. It’s already underway with a reform bill and I agree with Sunaks comments in this article saying it’s the government who should decide who stays and who doesn’t.

So if we vote in a different government, and they decide to open the flood gates entirely, you'd be fine with that too?

Silly question, but won’t ever happen because it would be political suicide.

But you'd agree with it wouldn't you as "the Government" should decide? And if they wanted to rewrite laws to suit their own agenda, that would also be fine? Otherwise, you're talking utter shite.

Sorry Bolsy.  forgot to post the link with the chart in it.

Other polls have been finding similar things in recent years.

Likely these policies are being used to attract some of the ex UKIP voters, and red wall Labour voters. I’m sure it makes a difference in our dated voting system, but it doesn’t address voter concerns of the majority.

We’ll know more in the GE run up.

He’s really struggling today.

He’s forgetting that democracy also means government policies can be scrutinised and  taken to court. Otherwise they just do whatever they like, maybe even give themselves another term if they feel like it.

It works both ways as well. The SNP have had their fair share of policies overturned up here. Most recently a Marine conservation one for the Highlands and Islands. We’re in desperate need for more conservation but this just punished local fishing communities on the Islands and not the big trawlers out at sea. It was rightly scrutinised and scrapped. Democracy at its finest. If folk want their government to do whatever they like then they should consider another country. Belarus?

Thankfully, our system doesn't work like that. If you think that's how it should work, you may be better suited to life in North Korea or Russia.

What you saying government changing laws makes us like Korea/Russia.

No. But giving "the Government" carte blanche to change laws because they want to enact Policies that break them would. Why bother with laws at all if that's how you think things should work? Just let "the Goverment" decide what's illegal as and when they please. They represent "the people" after all. Until they don't.
