To be fair, the far left of the party has a legitimate grievance - Starmer's rowed back from practically all of his leadership electionncampaign promises

There'll be no argument from me, but it's not merely complaining on gheir part - he legitimately fucked them over

I must admit I didn't follow his leadership campaign so you may have a point. However I would counter that what is the point of a political party if it never gets the chance of making positive change in Government?

Lib Dems managed it briefly but got burnt by Cameron and then UKIP managed it through the referendum and the country got burnt by Cameron.

UK rejoins EU science research scheme Horizon

This had been coming for a while. Some will like it, some won't. The interesting thing is that it means, for any projects that we get involved with, we come back under the ECJ, which I know loads of people really don't like. The really good news is that it should allow for free movement of people, services and goods between us and the EU (with regards to specific projects)

Indeed. Who would have thought that we would be stronger together ?

And all on OUR terms

Interesting take. I think you will find it is more a case that we fulfilled our obligations with the Northern Ireland framework and paid our subscription. Simple as that really.

If you think that is how this played out I have a bridge to sell you.

So the EU stopped research that saves lives because they weren’t happy about cooked meats crossing the border into Eire. They really are a shower of shit.

Our government delivered brexit and agreed the NI protocol (an internationally binding agreement). The effect on science and research was outlined during the brexit process and dismissed as project fear. You can’t start taking the moral high ground now😀

Remind us again - did we choose to leave, or did the EU kick us out?

We can have our cake and eat it. Nigel said so!🤣

Stopping live saving research to get your way over cooked meats... do you support that?

Cakes are fine its the cooked meats they stopped life saving research for 3 years for.

No. Did we choose to leave, or did the EU kick us out?

That is the answer to my question. And for once the correct answer.

No, it is a stupid question.

It'll be interesting to hear Boltys view when he returns, as he said a few months ago we definitely shouldn't be rejoining, as it means an alignment with the EU. Which is fair enough.

So, by your rational, he, and Farage etc, all want to stop life saving research 🙂

Just a thought, and it might be a bit "out there" but maybe they didn't stop doing their research and working with other member states. It might just have been the UK want included. If, as you suggest all research across the EU was stopped, then that really is bad

You're blaming the EU for enacting exactly what we wanted. When you voted Leave, did you add a little note that said "But stay in the Horizon scheme"?

Collaborative research with UK scientists stopped and all because the EU felt free movement of cooked meats was more important than allowing life saving research, the EU project takes precedent to saving lives... this is what the FPBE mob want apparently.

I honestly can't wait for the twisting in the wind that the likes of RW, BB and Mounts are going to go through from now until the election. Its a simple joy to watch at the moment as they see the edifice of this government they have defended crumble as they either backtrack, point the finger in other directions, scream there are no alternatives and call anyone a fool for not seeing the truth of it.

It stopped because we collectively chose to leave. YOU literally voted to stop it.
