ONS have revised data on our economy.

No surprise that they have revised it upwards and no surprise they under estimated it in the first place. So we weren’t the worst performing economy, just as many of us argued at the time.

Yep. It was mentioned on here last week but got little response. Good or better news never does.

To be fair, these are revised figures for the end of 2021. We are in September 2023 and a lot has happened in those months.

Good news it is though.

Of course it’s good news.

But everywhere should be growing, price increases alone ought to make sure of that.

It may or may not yet prove to be the case our economy was the worst performing of comparable economies (hopefully it won't) if and when other countries also revise their calculating methods

But the claim our economy hadn't recovered to its pre-pandemic size - and was the only country not to do so - has certainly been proved wrong

Good news

The performance since is nothing to do with it though.

Its purely an update on figures at that time.

It might signify a higher tax take which will have been helpful post covid.

Be interesting to see if methods of assessment have changed/improved since.

There is an article in the FT that goes into it, but it goes beyond my understanding.

The gammons will be fewmin with Fry!

I notice they are all losing their shit on Twitter over folks with EU flags in the audience for last night of the proms.

The gammons don't like Fry anyway, he's an Oxbridge-educated homosexual

Now that's a burn...

It's probably not the kind of thing an MP should be tweeting though

To be honest, you are absolutely correct,  it isn't. I don't think he cares though, he properly hates the Tories.

😊 Surely she doesn’t manage her own ‘X’ account.

He's entitled to his opinion like anyone else.

Like many, he purely focuses on what suits his narrative.

Why non politicians shouldn't be on shows discussing politics.

Why not put a plumber, teacher, scientist etc on and get a range of folk to give their views. They're equally as valid.

He has a degree in English Literature. His education, fame and qualifications does not mean he knows any better than anyone else who voted. His most valid point, which most seem to have ignored is his dig at the Labour Party. If it’s such a ‘feel it in the bones’ disaster, why don’t Labour, ahead in the polls, come out and announce a second referendum? Because it would be political suicide.

Quite.

You won't find him living on Gibraltar street neither. 💣

Correct. Far too soon to start pouring salt in the wounds of those who were so easily misguided into the belief that leaving the EU would solve all their problems.

He may have an opinion on Wanderers next starting line up or whichever team he supports. Totally meaningless unless he says what you want him to say.

It will have to be done piece by piece so that the cerebrally challenged won’t notice.

Who are these cerebrally challenged people that you speak of? I voted remain of course so I speak from a kind of neutral perspective. You’re surely not talking about the so called Red Wall voters who previously voted Labour (intelligence never questioned) then turned and voted for both Brexit and Conservative?

Hahaha you're about as neutral as a brown wire.

Depends which country you are in. We live in a global world. Different colours and all that. Shouldn’t differentiate. I’m probably the most neutral on here. That’s why I upset so many people. 😊

What’s stopping them winning the election , then calling a referendum?

Nothing. Just like anything they say leading up to the election is worthless.
I’ll say the same about the Tories just to show my neutrality.

Do you think Labour would do that?
