. I'll admit I don't understand how they actually work our productivity, across a nation,

Some of it's calculated using the public transport infrastructure.  We've probably got huge swathes of our workforce stuck in traffic jams or on replacement bus services

IMO the best money we could 'invest' now to get a good return in the coming years would be to get HMRC a system that is fit for purpose.

Rather than running separate systems for PAYE and self cert for instance. Dealing with them is a nightmare and £bns must just leak out of the system every year.

I am in year 3 of a disputed over payment, every call is an hour waiting for phone to be answered. All been caused by a serious of fuck ups at their end so I have  underpaid/been over refunded. I have asked  nearly 2 years for a breakdown of the amounts so I can confirm the amount , still waiting.

I was having this very conversation only yesterday, fucking hell it's hardwork.

The guy I spoke to for my level 1 complaint said to me 'you have been unlucky anyone even noticed this, I do not know how they have even managed to journal the money this way, must have found a manual work round.'

These issues will happen anytime people have moved from PAYE to or from Self Cert. Which during Covid would be even higher than usual.

Easier headline to blame welfare benefit claimants

PS the secret is to ring first thing in morning. The staff are very helpful but the systems are awful.

I think I saw something where Farage and/or Tice said that as they have decided to stand 600+ candidates, they've just not had the time to vet them all, so it'll be no surprise if they do find one or two more instances like this, especially given the sort of person who is interested in that particular party

They are saying they paid a vetting company £144k to check their candidates, presumably because they were worried about stuff in their background.

They are saying the company took the money but did nothing.

So their candidates are now unvetted and they are £144k out of pocket Obviously up to people to decide if this story reflects well on Reform.

It has caused a slightly embarrassing situation were they have a candidate standing for Reform say that we should not have fought the Nazis and the 'cult' of Churchill is a myth in the same week they have announced these plans to teach patriotic history in our schools.

Weird

When inflation was really high the government said it was beyond their control.

Now its low it’s because they controlled it.

Tory doublethink in full flow

It was the only one of their pledges that they had no control over, and it was likely to go down before the election. Of course they will now claim credit for it.

Won't make a jot of difference to the overall election result. Time to start on the scorched earth policy and then leave a note in the Treasury like Liam Byrne did. What a cunt.

Was a bit of a car crash on LBC this morning for Sunak.

I honestly think everyone is a bit sick of the election now, and feels a like its really dragging now - nothing has shifted, other than the Reform moonmen coming in and taking some more votes from the Conservatives.

Anyway, I've very pleased with our new Labour club - charming little place.

I think it's been a dead campaign since Reform opted against an electoral pact with the Tories, and especially since Farage announced he was standing

It practically killed off any prospect of the polls narrowing and I doubt there's anything that could realistically happen now that would really change the dial in any direction

Blimey.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cw00rgq24xvo

A billionaire who gave the Conservatives £500,000 before the last general election has told the BBC he will vote Labour for the first time in his life next month.

I had a few interviews at Phones4U down near Crewe back in the early 00s

everything that was cringe about working for a big company in a big office environment, was right there

strange place, almost like a cult and he was the leader

anyway

fair enough that explanation he gave to it all

Never really see many Labour clubs. Only one I can think of is the one near Preston city centre in front of a load of tower blocks. Looks rough as toast :D

There's a few Connie clubs over this way like.

Dying off those types of gaffs.

Yeah thought it was going to be the usual but it's like a little micro pub with cheap ale - which even in whitstable is not to be sniffed at.

True blue area round mine but I've only seen Labour banners up - seems everyone is being very quiet about voting Conservative this time out. Plus the influx of DFL'ers has made a difference.
