You’ve not read the report have you.

It’s 197 pages by the way, not 200 as Sir Keir said. Wonder if he really did read it?

I never claimed to have. Have you read all 200 pages?

All I said was folk in a better position to you or I have misgivings but I generally agree with an enquiry.

Who was the solicitor?

Listen to LBC today, around 2pm

Watch BBC news at 6pm.

Did your ‘solicitor’ have prior knowledge of the report and read it fully by 2pm?

I don't know but he was a solicitor representing many children of sex abuse within institutions and gangs. Why the fuck you put that in quotations is for you to explain, it was on national radio and he's been on several times trying to raise awareness. Fucking hell.

A ‘solicitor’ on the radio is no better than a bloke in the pub. There is a much bigger picture here and you have completely missed it.

The solicitor is presumably not in a better position than the Baroness who conducted the audit

In quotes again. Pointless

Are we actually going to put them into action then?

That's a question for the government but I'd imagine we are -or at least should - considering the recommendations were in respect of child sexual exploitation in the general sense

But the solicitor was saying there isn't a need for a national inquiry and you noted that he was in a better position than us to make that judgement

That may be so, but I'm willing to place more weight on the opinion of the Baroness than I am on the solicitor when it comes to the need for a national inquiry, as she is surely in a even better position than he is

Unless this so called solicitor is in the know, there is no way they could have known the content of the report as it was only released at 3pm. Thats when I saw and read it. I may be wrong and as usual, happy to be corrected.

So called solicitor. I suggest you actually listen to his opinion and what I am saying. FFS this is like arguing with cheese.

Tell us who he is and I’ll listen. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, let’s get to the crux.

‘The report concluded that ignorance and a fear of being seen as racist meant organisations tasked with protecting children turned a blind eye to abuse.’

"We found many examples of organisations avoiding the topic altogether for fear of appearing racist, raising community tensions or causing community cohesion problems", the report said.

Just a small snippet from the BBC.

I listened to a solicitor on the radio today who has represented a number of victims. He doesn't agree and I would say he knows a lot more about it than you or I do.

He says the last enquiry needs to be implemented in full and is worried that this new one will just delay things.

As I stated earlier, as long as the previous enquiry recommendations are implemented alongside this new investigation then fair enough.

Oh and it's the police to me that comes out of this the worst, nothing to do with fearing racism accusations as such but that they were slags and a lifestyle choice so didn't bother.

Baroness Casey/home secretary have just been on and said that that is exactly what happened at times.

Ther have also been plenty of reports and stories about all manner of folk within various authorities fearing such accusations.

So

now it’s been thrown open officially that Pakistanis are disproportionately raping young girls.

Whats the solution.?

Acknowledging the problem is a huge step. It’s taken years. Solution? Not sure that’s the right word. You can read pages 149 to 154 of her report for recommendations. 👍

All the “cover ups” happened under a Tory government

Within a year, Labour have let it be known that Pakistanis are a massive fucking issue.

Please can someone explain why this is somehow Starmer’s fault?

thanks

You’re the only one bringing up Starmer. 🤷‍♂️

The Tories would have done something about it during their time in power, but couldn’t because of a weak Labour opposition.

There aren’t many differences at time to be honest.

Anyway.

Seems to me Starmer has been patient and let the legal routes follow their course, thereby leaving a watertight path to justice. Jumping in feet first with a knee jerk reaction can leave gaps in the defence further down the road

Patience is a virtue etc

As I said, only you and a few others are trying to make this a political issue. It’s an institutional issue. Those of us who have been banging on about it haven’t brought party politics into it.
