I don't think he's going to be happy with this! 😁

When is this big story that will ruin him going to come out? It’s only been 8 years.

Amuses me when you see tan lines on a bird who clearly doesn't mind getting her tits out

Massive tits but an odd face, dunno if noticing that makes me a bender or not.

I can confirm, yes, you are a massive bender.

Stop quoting the picture of the naked teenager! Ffs

Came here to see opinions on Starmer launching an enquiry into gangs sharing images of teens etc and you're all fooking at it!

May as well join the bender roll call.

She's got a very long neck too.

I still don't understand why he was bothered in the first place to be honest, we live 200 miles away from London. He's clearly doing a good enough job to be re-elected so many times.

Is that how it works?

Unless you want to do away with democracy, then yep, I’m afraid so.

They'll say it's a U-turn 🥱

What a fucking joke. He has fought this every step of the way. Wanted it dealt with by individual town councils heavily loaded with Pakistani councillors. That would be really useful eh? Certainly in terms of keeping a lid on it and minimising upset to a proportion of their base.

He's had to cave to public pressure just as he has with the winter fuel payments. Almost as bad as the various authorities and agencies who bent over backwards to cover this up/do nothing about it.

Massive fucking U Turn. You and Jol must live in some alternative universe.

Oh right, just we keep hearing “14 years of shit” when in reality They were clearly doing a good enough job to keep getting voted in 🤷🏻

Well if you want to conflate a national election where everyone votes to decide their local MP, and a mayoral election where Londoners vote for their mayor then be my guest.

The point being if you’re doing well you get the votes. Isn’t that how it’s works?

Well yes and no. There are too many moving parts such as the rise of the SNP in Scotland, the Brexit vote, Labour putting idiot Corbyn in charge, etc.

Still not sure why folk from Bolton give a fuck to be honest.

Why? What impact does the role of London Mayor have on the good folk of Bolton?

Surely it's not that difficult to comprehend why people might be interested in how the capital city of the country they live in is run?

Especially in a country that's so heavily dependent on its capital city

The argument that unless something has a direct impact on someone they shouldn't care about something always seems odd to me anyway

I get that but not to such an extent and with such negativity. I didn't notice it when Boris was in charge but then again he didn't actually do much.

So are you happy with the announcement or not? All I'm really bothered about is whether we have an inquiry that finally gets to the truth - with no political interference.

As long as we get that - I don't really care how many people have u-turned, or to what extent.

This is something that needs to happen for the country to look itself in the face and begin to heal and move forward. I think the Labour Party have recognised this. And if (with a cynical hat on) it's happened only because they're worried about losing votes - then I don't really care particularly and long as the truth comes out. Whatever that truth might be.

The alternative would be to leave things as they are. Surely you wouldn't prefer that option would you?

I'd just be a pragmatist about this one if I were you.

I think it's probably this sentiment he's unhappy with rather than the announcement itself

Let's not give credit where it isn't due

The government instigated a "rapid, three-month" audit into grooming gangs in January - I'm sure the fact the scandal was dominating headlines at that time due to Elon Musk's sudden interest in it was a mere coincidence - and the Baroness leading the audit has told them a national inquiry is, after all, appropriate

It's a bit of a stretch to claim the party has "recognised it's something that needs to happen for the country to heal and move forward"

If it transpires that the national inquiry that's been announced is forensic, comprehensive, free of political interference, and leads to proper accountability and culpability if and where evidence of criminality is found, then that would genuinely be something Starmer and his government should be credited for

I live in a very different place, thank fuck. For a start, I live in 2025, not 1985.

This is where my thoughts are. And I don't really care which political party announce or get credit/pilloried for it. I think most sides of the political persuasion would say it's the right thing to do.
