Local government has many problems at the moment.

So many are skint.

In the age of austerity, their central government funding was slashed- a necessary evil, but arguably too big.

Despite the opposition complaints at the time, the funding hasn't been restored.

Inevitably therefore, council tax will rise in many places, irrespective of who who is in charge of the running of it.

What is vital though, is cutting waste and removal of non jobs.

With central government at odds with so many local council cabinets, friction is inevitable.
