McSweeney GONE (quit as opposed to being sacked)

That's the official line, anyway.

What is the football parlance again-"by mutual consent".

Starmer's human shields have been falling away drip by drip since the election.

Sooner or later it'll be Larry's turn! 😀

The LabourParty need a reality check... bloody big majority and no alternative leaders

They are all fucking alternatives from what I am seeing.

I think Starmer should call a general election tomorrow.

Can you imagine Reform trying to find 600+ quality candidates? Or even 6?

Worst ways, they win by a landslide and we get a few years of watching some genuine carnage.

That would be entertaining, the next GE is going to be interesting in so much as I don't see anybody gets a majority, there could all sorts of weird alliances formed, with the likes of the Lib Dems and/or The Greens holding the balance of power

Leader of the Scottish Labour Party, Anas Sarwar, has called for a press conference at 2.30pm. He is expected to call for Starmer to step down.  He’ll do very well to survive the next 48 hours.

Wonder what the Trump administration is making of all this kerfuffle. Must think Starmer/Labour are bonkers with all these resignations. Accountability in a democracy is something completely foreign to them.

Rumours now circulating that a Cabinet Minister will resign in the next few days.  This crisis would appear to be accelerating.

They won't give a fuck either way, we're not really relevant to them these days

Why? I thought he was doing well (according to some Folk on here)

Trump is too busy losing his shit about the superbowl halftime show that he said he wouldn't be watching.

Not that he gets triggered by absolutely everything the massive fucking snowflake.

Pity SKS couldn't find any quality for his cabinet.

Then again, they were always disposable, human shields anyway.

Typical of a weak leader.

Bit like Sunak.

But yes, he should have threatened an election to force them to back his policies.

The cabinet ministers and Rayner publicly back Starmer

I bet Sarwar feels like a right tit

Not sure that means much.

They won't necessarily go in for the kill until they're convinced he'll go.

If one or two publicly called for him to go, then more would.

A domino effect in action, but until one or two put their head above the parapet, then they'll just hedge their bets.

We've seen this with Boris Johnson recently.

It's a vicious pit of vipers is parliament, and plenty looking out for their own interests.

There is also the added complication that whoever takes over is likely to lose the next election, which is particularly attractive.

I'd imagine they won't have gone public without knowing what's what

Publicly backing him and then drip feeding resignations would only make them look foolish

For what it's worth, I'm guessing they've agreed between themselves to wait until the May local elections before making their move
