August 19, 20179 yr We have to make about 30 passes or or 20 long ball attempts until we can make half a chance. Derby just have to do 3 passes, and then they are through on goal. And please for the love of god, can we get rid of Pratley, he has been here for 6 years now. All he does is pass backwards, and foul players. Never liked him never will. Gonna be a long season, we can't really compete against teams with premier league players and finances. Especially when our entire squad is worth £0. We just have to fight every game and scrap results out and finish 21st, it's possible but going to be bloody.
August 19, 20179 yr Truly gash till 70 mins similarity to last championship campaign Just shows how piss poor league 1 was
August 19, 20179 yr Anybody who thought this team wouldn't struggle against teams with big spending power was deluded. We are in a mini league within a league. Prob 6 or 7 teams battling to stay up. If we can nick points away from home against some of the more affluent teams then that will help massively but it isn't going to be pretty. And we 100% need max points at home against the burtons etc I said after Leeds we don't have the personnel to play 352 at this level and that's the case. I've seen articulated lorries quicker at turning than our defence. I think you are deluded in thinking there might be as many as 6 teams worse than Bolton. The only 4 teams Bolton can finish above are already the other teams in the bottom 5. I think its more likely to be a horrific season than a "heroic" finish above Barnsley. Burton and Barnsley have already won one which worries me they are better sides. Edited August 19, 20179 yr by jturner
August 19, 20179 yr In Spain at the moment but that sounded shit, 3-5-2 away but let's go 4-4-2 at home. We are in for a hard season and Blackburn won has well bad day at the office

I think its more likely to be a horrific season than a "heroic" finish above Barnsley. Burton and Barnsley have already won one which worries me they are better sides. Finishing outside the bottom three would be boarderline heroic given the gulf in quality that we have seen so far Look at boro for example, they are starting with a three up top of Gestede, Asombalonga and Bamford! Leeds beat us with a striker that's being linked with a £15m move to the Prem Be a long old season Grind! Edited August 19, 20179 yr by birch-chorley
August 19, 20179 yr My worry with switching formations is that we already look weak as piss with three in midfield without moving anyone away from there. ALF coming on for Armstrong. Agreed, if we drop 352 it will have to be for 451 and that won't be popular.
August 19, 20179 yr I don't think we have the personnel to play 442 at this level I'd say it's more about the quality of the personnel than it is the formation This post definitely not brought to you by champ manager 2017 Spot on, mind Look at their bench and you see why we had a massive task today
August 19, 20179 yr Not seeing what karacan is offering tbh agree with this... although, i dont think we have many other options.
August 19, 20179 yr This post definitely not brought to you by champ manager 2017 Spot on, mind Look at their bench and you see why we had a massive task today we are light with 2 in centre mid. hate to think how 2 would fair. plus we have no left mid.
August 19, 20179 yr Not seeing what karacan is offering tbh He was chasing shadows today and Huddlestone was barely having to move. Derby just had better players all over the pitch to be fair.
August 19, 20179 yr The score line flattered us today. We're going to struggle to create anything when the midfield doesn't pass forwards. Shite day.
August 19, 20179 yr Defence woeful Midfield woeful However did we sign Pratley,he has done nothing for years Karachan not good enough Cullen must wonder what's hit him We have only 1 idea, that's hump it to Madine-teams already know it
August 19, 20179 yr It's crying out for Ameobi He's big, strong and technically capable as well Just what we need in the team at the moment I'd not say no to another body or two either if sweaty can pull something out of the bag, he will have seen what we have and know we are short
August 19, 20179 yr Derby were miles better than us. Miles. Thought Morais did OK as did Buckley and Wilbraham when they came on. The latter is a fucking massive unit and potentially a direct swap for Madine for me - providing he can get through 90 minutes. GM back to his stroppy, petulant worst after singing his praises against Leeds. Took his goal well enough but Derby were back on the bus no then. Beevers had a shocker - and I didn't see Pratley having a noticeably worse game than anybody else in our midfield. That's not saying much mind. We ground our way to promotion last season - whether we'll grind our way to safety this season is very much an open question for me. Massive step up from League 1 and its left a few of ours wanting even at this early stage. Some big performances are going to be needed over the coming weeks.
August 19, 20179 yr We started like this last season.. Be reet.. we'll stay up We started with 4 wins last season.
August 19, 20179 yr Men against boys doesn't even come close to summing it up. Derby were far superior in every area but I'd come to expect that given how much their team cost. What I expected from us though was to be more organised and harder to beat. Teams at the higher end of the championship know there's acres of space behind Taylor and Morais and are exploiting it. The 3 centre halves struggled to cope with their strikers big time. Midfield needs a destroyer. If only Muamba didn't have a dickie ticker. Pratley was hopeless, Karacan a non entity. Strikers never got a sniff all afternoon but didn't do much with the scraps they did get. Quality isn't there but I can understand that. Unfortunately, the organisation wasn't their either today. Ah well, write it off and move on. There will be more afternoons like this
August 19, 20179 yr Just like last season we will be vulnerable at home And they don't ease up boro and Sheffield utd up next I'm going for a surprise win on Friday night
August 19, 20179 yr Let's not panic yet. I'm not getting sucked into this they have more spending power argument yet either. What let us down today was being sloppy. I find that bizarre after the display at brum. Cullen needs to go forward sometimes. Derby didn't look all that. Buckley needs a start for me as its too much for morais on his own. The pressing was piss poor today.
