Oh heck. That's saddened me. A pioneer and a great player. RIP big man

Great player and seemed decent chap and fit as a butchers dog very sad news. RIP

Possibly my favourite non Wanderer,  I remember how he tormented and bullied Paul Jones in one of the best perfomances of a Centre forward ever. R I P  gutted.

RIP. Apart from seeing him regularly on MOTD. Pretty sure one of the only times I recall actually seeing him was in a midweek league cup tie vs Coventry. Went to both legs, pretty sure he scored a screamer at Burnden. But could be wrong.

Blimey - all my early memories of football are from the late 70s/early 80s.

He was some player that lad.

RIP Big Cyrille

Aye, think he did. Also remember he gave Stubbs a bit of a pasting. Nothing nasty just far too strong for him

RIP Cyrille. Did a lot for the game. I remember him from Coventry cup win and era but it seems he had left a powerful presence from his time at WBA

Very few around like him now...he was physical but not dirty & he was a very good player. That said he would probably get sent off every week now.

Regis was very quick, no suprise that he was related to Jon Regis the Olympic sprinter.

I always thought John Regis was massive - just seen a pic of the pair of them together - Cyril is even bigger.

Cracking player had it all strength pace good in the air must have been a nightmare for centrebacks RIP big fella.

As a nipper, he was my favourite none Bolton player, WBA were a proper force in the late 70s.

R I P big man

RIP Big Cyrille.

No age. RIP Cyrille.

Good reason to show this again. Gerald Sinstadt said this was the best match he ever commentated on. I think we bought Cantello not long after.

And united bought Robson.???? How good was Cunningham covering the ground a joy to watch.

Reckon he's my favourite commentator of all.

I went to this game as ours was cancelled earlier in the day for frost and my dad blagged tickets from his mate (who's cousin was West Brom's Chairman). I tell you who else must've blagged tickets was Jim McDonagh and Neil McNab who sat near us. I was 12 and a bit starstruck and even though the game was fantasic I spent more time looking at Jim and Neil than i did at the game. I remember the performance of Big Cyrille and Cunningham but also the saves that Bailey made as I was a keen goalie. After the game my dad struck up conversation with Jim and I could hardly breathe. He asked him if he would have saved those couple of Hollywood saves that Bailey made and Jim said "Aye, and I could've saved the other five too! "
