March 12, 20188 yr Me? I just recalled another poster opining that they'd rather someone try and thump them then be spat at when the board was discussing spitting during another spitting erm...spat. Thought it was you, perhaps because of your antipathy to EHD, maybe it was someone else. I'd rather be thumped for the record, one of my biggest regrets in life is allowing a (bigger, older) lad to gob on me as a kid without retaliating - even if I'd been twatted. Even now almost thirty years later if I saw him in the street I'd have to exercise extreme self-control not to go over and clump him.
March 12, 20188 yr You know what, it's such a weird incident. Huge questions as to why this guy is trying to wind him up. Also why his daughter is asking him to stop and he's ignoring her. But beyond that, really that is nothing. "Jamie 2-1 mate". Is the extent of the "wind up". To make him spit like that, you have to wonder if he's got some personal issues going on. That's just not normal behaviour and whilst I'm no fan of his, he doesn't strike me as "that sort". in his words, he'd had it 3 or 4 times on the way home, don't think it means he's got personal issues, he just doesn't like being wound up by utd fans when they've just beat his team, it was just his way of saying "fuck off yer munich cunt" (I'm assuming he's Utd, though he sounds more like he'd be Everton, same thing though) "I was goaded three, four times along the motorway while being filmed and lost my rag. No excuse, apologies."
March 12, 20188 yr Be hard for him to badly critique things in football now. Apart from spitting incidents; Rijkaard, EHD, Hagi et al. (for aim, gob consistency, volume etc.) Edited March 12, 20188 yr by Youri McAnespie
March 12, 20188 yr Author Spitting is disgusting. (Outside a romantic situation) He could have just told them to fuck off, or reminded them how rich he is or just completely fucking ignored them like I imagine most famous folk would have done. It's not like they were throwing rocks at his car or lobbing jizz at him. Instead he chose to spray his insides across a young girl. That said, let's not overlook the fact these were Manchester United fans and as such fully deserving of it.

Why even put his window down?

My point was that driving down the motorway while doing that, especially with a young kid in the car, is pretty dangerous. What was being said is largely irrelevant. March 12, 20188 yr Fair play to him fronting it out on sky news just now. I've read his book, he's been goaded all his life by bitter blues as he was an Everton diehard as a kid and his dad ran Everton supporters club. Out of order what he did but the guy filming caused this and will probably result in someone losing their job. Shit state of affairs all round

March 12, 20188 yr Shouldn't be sacked for this imo. Lots of faux outrage from folk who won't give a shit by Thursday
March 13, 20188 yr Could be somewhere like St Helens. Odd hearing folk with a Merseyside accent supporting Man Utd.

But yes, I'd rather take a punch/kick/headbutt than be spat at. To spit on someone, you may as well piss or shit on them, I just feel it's more invasive/personal for some reason. As for my antipathy towards that sweaty cheating wife beating cunt, the spitting is/was only a part of it.

Respectfully I completely disagree I remember Shearer et al saying the same as you when Diouf was at it It’s subjective of course, and spitting at folk is completely deplorable, but personally i’d much rather that than: On the pitch - someone stamp on me / break a leg / snap an ACL or Achilles’ Off the pitch - get chinned / head butted / stabbed etc I think with spit it’s psychological
March 13, 20188 yr I hope you know your attacker. There's a lot of potential to some deadly viruses in spittle. I'm not saying I'd rather have a broken leg but many a deadly bug would be passed by spitting.

Only a crazy would say otherwise
March 13, 20188 yr I think with spit it’s psychological Indeed; I think in a way that's what trafs saying when it's seems more personal. Thinking logically you'd take a spitting over a serious injury, but by the fuck you'd want to chin any bastard that spat at you. Very emotive. Can't say I've ever been spat at during a game; has anyone experienced it and how did you react

A punch, a kick, a headbutt not some of the stuff you suggested. You can see a physical attack coming and prepare to fight it.
