am thinking the main problem is police cuts = less police on the streets = less stop and search = more attacks and "kids" running around doing what the fuck they want

I think the problem is specifically black London youths killing other black London youths.

 

There has been a lot of opposition to stop and search but this is not the dodgy and basically racist "sus laws" of the 70's which led to the Brixton riots.

The murder rate in NYC is still higher than London's for the year. I reckon normal service will be resumed shortly. When the murder rate in the UK gets higher than the US then I might start concerning myself with it a bit more - Maybe I'll start carrying a knife for protection.

The shooting? I used to live on that street, it’s rough. Gang stuff, could never figure out who was fighting who, Turkish and Eastern Europeans mainly it seemed. Anyway, if you weren’t involved it seemed pretty safe and there was a great Jamaican takeaway round the corner.
