Bolton would need to inspire the younger generation. By winning and more reaching out. There are far too many United and Liverpool etc fans around the Bolton area.

How many kids have been turned off watching Bolton recently for instance?

bolton need to do nothing.

parents need to get a grip.

My kid, when its born in 6 months, is going to be indoctrinated from birth.

There are but that's probably always been the case, first season back in PL 2001 I knew loads of people at college or their mates who weren't Bolton fans yet were going games or getting season tickets so they could see the likes of Owen and Beckham in the flesh but over time it grew because we got damn good.

And I have to say, first season after relegation to championship and in league 1 we seemed to gain a shit load of youth following us everywhere so there's always hope.

If the club can get back to the crowds we had in the prem under new owner, them we'd be doing ok. Look at Bournemouth, reasonably welathy owner, doing well and only get 11k a week so we don't exactly have a small attendance all considered.

Just about clinging on my lad but it’s slowly wearing

in a school where there’s about 5 bolton fans and 2 are teachers it’s tough, city gave free tickets for their cup game other week, he didn’t go like but for a young lad watch city or bolton no contest

there's plenty teams we could do as well as for crowds if we got back in - Bournemouth, Watford, Burnley, Huddersfield, Palace, Fulham

Yep, hence my assertion that we would still be quite attractive to a potential buyer :yahoo:

Crowds don’t matter if you are in premier league, it’s only outside of premier league they become important.

I’m not sure crowds matter as much in the championship anymore

Tge difference between 15k at £15 a head average and 25k at £15 a head average is £3m a year + a bit more spend on the day

TV money at this level is something like £10m a year now isn’t it? £5m TV + £5m Premier League loyalty payment

Of course it would help a lot but It’s not making a massive difference anyway. The big budgets in this league come in the shape of either parachute payments for the teams that come down or a wealthy owner chucking millions in. However, even with a wealthy owner, isn’t their a limit to how much they can chuck in a year as part of FFP?

If you’ve no parachute payment and no rich owner (BWFC) you need decent crowds to help you stay in the division, otherwise it’s a slippery slope.

Ken would certainly argue otherwise

along with Leeds and Villa fans

also, saw yesterday Wigan had losses of £7.7M for year ending 2018 (league one) - compared to £4.3M the year before

and the difference was mainly turnover down from 18.4M to 6.7M - due to no parachute payments

it's tough out there

TV money is the big driver but crowds will be important to any investor.

Plus the overall fan base for things like shirt sales etc.

That said I do hate all this big club small club crap as its used as a stick to beat clubs by some idiots.

Clubs like us Wigan & Preston have benefited from large away followings in this league, come end of season I bet all 3 are in the top 5 for most visited.

I propose joining forces and renaming the club Wigton

Mate it’s a bit more difficult than that.

My eldest is the only bolton in his whole school. It was the forest match that properly turned him and he still loves coming for the day out. But that won’t last if home games stay as shit as they are. He’s already put the feelers out to see if he’s ‘allowed to like spurs’ as his prem team.

Took the youngest the other week and he was bored to tears and says he doesn’t want to go back.

So you wouldn't like a 30% increase in our budget?

Snap,

lad was at a party Saturday I gets in from Sheffield first thing “ go on dad how many we get beat by”

When I was at primary school I liked Liverpool and citeh as well as my dad's team. Once I got to high school and my individual tastes formed I went fully with the dad and grandad in supporting Bolton.

It helped that this coincided with the Bruce Rioch era.

My lad has no interest in football but he's 6 and autistic as fuck so that's no surprise.

Frank; there's a lad in our road who is mega autistic, and he's a big fan and goes quite a bit, so there's hope for you!

After we'd beaten Peterborough, he asked a copper if he could go on the pitch- what a guy! :)

Made me laugh out loud that my lad is also autistic as fuck but he’s 16 . Still gives me very quizzical looks whenever a goal goes in and his old man is jumping round the room like a loon . Not that it’s happened much lately . He’s only been to one game but he’s not great in crowds .
