Given money was / is so tight

Why sign someone like ALF on decent money if the manager doesn’t fancy him

Crazy having a big chunk of budget sat on the bench

Granted we have a small budget, tge chaormen signing players the manager won’t use doesn’t help

Would have been interesting to see how we would have got on over the past three years had Parky been able to sign his own players that suit his system

Probably have still been shite but at least the thinking would have been joined up

I don't know if you've got round to it yet, Mounts,  but I'd strongly recommend reading  the first few pages of the club's 2017 Annual Report. Its not so much Parkinson related as it is financial facts of life related.

An interesting point is that, despite reducing wages costs by 32% on the previous year, the club would have had an operating loss in 2016/17  even if every single person employed by it had worked on a totally unpaid/voluntary basis.

I’m not sure I need to read it as I know we were financially shafted, wasn’t it ken who said we were going to break even or record small profit this season. What did you make of that statement?

Unsurprisingly Anderson doesn't mention anything about "lending" the EFL and transfer money to Inner Circle's and then "disappearing" it in the Annual report. I guess if it turns out to be true,  asset-stripping is a financial fact of life though.

Agree with most of Gonzos post above. KA has always felt like a necessary evil. The more this goes on the more it feels like rather keeping things going someone has been quietly lining their own pockets.

( I am not saying who this might be).

Aye

He never had to be selling off assets to be milking the club dry

I think you might just be confusing this season with last season, Mounts.

Last season the accounts, when or if we get to see them, are expected to show a small profit because the profit on the Madine sale is expected to have exceeded the operating loss.

This season we were bound to run out of time and money without another windfall or someone showing up with cash to splash. Neither has happened.

We've had free transfers and cast offs before, and struggled, but what we had before was a club captain, or at least a leader who could get the aforementioned castoffs motivated.

From top to bottom now we have nowt. I've not seen anybody pointing except in blame for ages. Nor a fist raised in encouragement all season.

Worse thing for me this week was report that the people who had taken youth players in as lodgers havent been paid by club. Perfect example of disconnect between club and community. Lot of these people are supporters of club or have done it for years and it is a bond that is now broken. This so called chairman is killing the club drip.by drip totally abandoned all moral duty and dont tell me he wont benefit financially even as club dies

The 2018 Annual Report hasn't been published yet and what we know about this comes mainly from Howard. He seems to have got a few things right but also a few things wrong in pursuance of an agenda.

I expect there will be some substance in what Howard has reported but I certainly wouldn't swallow all of it. If there had been an intention to deprive the factoring  company of its money or to leave the club with a debt it couldn't pay because the money advanced had been shifted, I'd suggest that that was more than just wrong. Ring-fencing the money, with the agreement or even insistence of the factoring company, seems to me a more likely explanation.

most the free tranfers have been players at the end of there careers. or lower league players.

Completely agree, no leaders on or off the field.

Just Interested to know how others see the next few days panning out

Setting aside whether or not we have a buyer who is close to a takeover or not

We have a situation where on the one hand the club are talking about trying to get a validation order to unfreeze the bank accounts to enable the players to be paid - at least that's what the players have been told and whats appeared in the press ,  and at the same time we have Bolton Whites in the High Court on wednesday facing a winding up petition

Whilst there has been a lot of focus on the two petitions against the football club which were reported minute by minute and attracted national interest  , the one against the hotel is not of that much interest to anyone , but could this be the petition that actually does the damage

The reason I mention it is because , whilst on the one hand the Hotel is trading at a loss and clearly owes money all over the place ,  the one asset that it has , at least in theory is a substantial amount of money due to it from the football club  - just shy of £1 million in last filed accounts and most likely a lot more now.

Will a judge look favourably on the hotel and give it time to get its house in order or might he be persuaded that the best course of action is to put the Hotel into administration and could we then see the club quickly follow , as an administrator asks the football club for the money it owes the hotel

Is there a realistic prospect of getting a validation order lifted to play players with a winding up petition pending over another part of the group ?

Or does the fact that there has been talk of the validation order being lifted and players being paid suggest that a takeover is only days away ?

I dont know the answers , just interested  to see how others see things developing this next few days ?

Fact is that

confused.com for me tbh.

hopefully a buyer

See this cast offs and free transfer thing...

We had them in league 1 and last season. We could say we just got lucky with them. The luck ran out this season.

Nobody in their right mind thought Morias would come in and start pinging assists like Tom Brady and totally transform the season, nor did anyone think Karl Henry was going to rise from the dead and put a shift in last season. There’s plenty of others that came off too. Great buisness all round.

For one reason or another they didn’t come off this season. You live and die by player recruitment.

We were fucking dire before and of the wages stuff and had as many winding up orders, money issues plus embargo’s last season and before.

We're going down because we have a playing squad made up of free transfers & cast offs who are not good enough for the championship & because we have not had the money to buy, or even loan in, better players...........not because of the manager.

I'll be renewing next season, with or without PP. ( assuming we have a club  !! )

I'm sorry but the squad of players should have performed much better than this

And it's down to the clown of a manager

Jack Darden says according to the EFL a sale has been agreed

Will that be bassini from last week or someone new

I just saw them tweets.. like he is being diplomatic here! It’s clear a couple of people have agreed high level costs but when they do DD there are more costs.. his comments are just stating the obvious and in reality no deal is close! He is just in kens pocket and they are all protraying a deal is close just to keep players without pay / creditors etc happy to stop them pursuring admin and fulfil all fixtures! We have been close to a deal for months.. just all frauds!!

But, winning and attractive?

With what it looks like we will be able to recruit, I'm not sure we can be that picky

Not arsed about attractive etc just sick of him

Are we not spending millions when Bassini takes over - get the squad up to scratch ready for pushing towards the premier league

Dearden is not in Anderson's pocket

He is, however, just a bog average bloke who fell into a job reporting on sport

Why anybody cares what he says is beyond me

Was meaning Harvey is.. was meaning more Harvey is painting the same picture as ken that a deal is close to keep everyone happy and not downtools or push the admin button! Resulting in no fulfiling of fixtures or walking out in no payment of wages.. all a joke! That’s all Harvey is arsed about all fixtures being completed! Pretty sure no deal is close at all..

Or

Maybe

They are/were close to a deal?

Fucked if I know but by Christ there’s a lot of folk that seem sure they know what’s going on on this thread with little to no actual knowledge.

Bit like them wanking off Howard for weeks without even knowing who he was purporting to represent

Reminds me of the hippies in Mars Attacks

I have no idea what is happening but I’m really starting to believe we will be wound up on 8/5/19. It’s hard to see anything else
