March 27, 20197 yr Dear Horwich, If Bolton are ever fortunate enough to play at Wembley, please make an appointment to have your hair cut, nails painted, eyebrows plucked, anything else which will prevent you attending.

March 27, 20197 yr Went to them all. Even the Carling Cup Final . Had to get a ticket off a friend who I worked with who got one from an accountant who no doubt got it free via some dodgy business source. This despite being a season ticket holder for many years. As you can tell it's still raw even now.
March 27, 20197 yr I was playing football in Germany in 1986 so didn't go to that one. I was obliterated at the Stoke game so that one didn't happen as I cant really remember it
March 27, 20197 yr I shut down v Stoke, worst feeling ever at a match. Been to everyone since I started watching in 93, so 20% win rate... Cardiff on the other hand is 50/50
March 27, 20197 yr Apart from Reading game, the Torquay game was brilliant. Think it was we were so starved of success at the time that even a crappy cup competition against no name opposition was good. Bought hat, rubbish T Shirt and everything from the sellers outside Wembley . Still have them somewhere.
March 27, 20197 yr Went to all those games, Wembley not been that kind to us, can’t stand the locaton either, only reading game was really special, probably in my all time top 3 games. And to make matters worse I was at Wembley when Wigan won the FA cup that was one of my worst football days ever. Edited March 27, 20197 yr by Mounts Kipper

Food and drink was good but only 2 of us went into the seats to watch the game while the rest stayed in and got pissed. It never felt to me that we were ever going to win that day. I missed the Preston win at Cardiff. That looked brilliant. Not as good as Reading obvs
March 27, 20197 yr Reads like a history of Henry VIII wives if you include Cardiff Liverpool - Divorced Watford - Beheaded Villa - Died Boro - Divorced Stoke - Beheaded Preston - Survived
March 27, 20197 yr Did them all & both at Cardiff, but was off with the pixies for Watford & Tranmere so can't count them, which improves my success rate.
March 27, 20197 yr Done the lot including the Cardiff ones Hard to say which was the worst still can feel the sickness in my stomach after the Tranmere defeat so that takes first prize given that Stoke was a debacle but a semi final & not a life or death playoff Boro seemed an opportunity missed but no real bitter feeling from it. Watford was hard to take but somehow expected. No doubt about about the winner in the win department though Reading must remember that one as their worst nightmare . PNE not bad either.
March 27, 20197 yr Forgot to mention watching England beat the jocks 5-1 mid seventies Scary stuff drunken scots in the wembley rafters pissing on the crowd & lobbing or dropping bottles. There were alleged to have been a 70-30 crowd split in favour or the scots that day certainly felt that way although by the time we got back to our hotel they had all left.

I had a free ticket and free travel through work for that one but there was no way on earth I was risking witnessing them living out my dream. Only went to the Watford and Villa games at the old Wembley so it hasn’t held many happy memories for me. Went to both games at Cardiff; the Preston game is in my top 5 favourites (recorded the highlights the other day on Sky, in fact). Missed Stoke. Can’t say I regret it.
