Compare to Jimmy Phillips who has wanted the top job a few times but has always knuckled down when overlooked. And was magnanimous in accepting need for a new man this time round.

If Lee wants the job he should go somewhere and prove himself a manager. Not just hang round here and ask his friends to do his dirty work via the media.

When I read that pitched as preferred bidders were announced I also thought it a disgrace. No time at all for him after that.

Tbh, it doesn't look over the top, but some context is important

The manager is getting loads of stick and somebody he needs to trust is, at best, thoughtless in his comments

Chuck in mcginlay, his mate, having regular pops, and it stinks, to me

Fair comments but lee is long before and long after parky. He has come across as a good bloke who loves the club when I’ve met him. I think they are all fair gripes as he was frustrated as many others were.

Again I feel this is a tad unfair. Bloke has been with us as a player and coach for nigh on 30 years.

fwiw I’m a big fan of jimmy as well.

Being here 30 years....is that a good thing? Perhaps he should have proven himself elsewhere.

Not a fan of Lee or McGinlay I’m afraid. Both have the mentality they are owed something by BWFC from what I’ve seen and heard.

Lee was apparently very vocal in letting anyone who would listen that he wanted parkys job....not the done thing in our previous situation really.

His absence from the front line when all the other top bods in the academy were front and centre this season speaks volumes for how he's seen amongst the staff at the moment.

Which are all reasons I'd understand if Parky wasn't keen.

But there doesn't seem to be a lot there to wish that somebody who seems from the outside to be doing job (and loves the club, been here decades etc. etc.) get the sack.

My boss knows that I want his job one day

i’d probably be thought less of at work if I didn’t want to improve myself and enhance my career

I’d much rather have folk hungry to get on as they generally deliver better results IMO

FWIW I work with Jack's mum and he was gutted when he left Bolton,

Sure he was, and i liked him from the little I saw in our youth cup runs, but he's 20 yrs old and gone to a non-league side 3 tiers below us.

If Hill could bring the bloke who ran Rochdale's youth setup Chris Beech that might be an idea. Brought through a lot of players they sold on for big money.

Hmmm heard some stuff about him I didn’t like, not happy replacing decent BWFC academy coaches/managers for someone who’s not BWFC through and through, would he do better job than David Lee? I doubt it, or are you thinking of him replacing phillips? No thanks.

See I don't get this. We don't have to employ people just because they played for us. Which academy has been more successful?

I would say huge questions about our youth development in the past two decades. Not saying it was a failure - you need a full context for that. But certainly in terms of output I don't think it has come close to what was expected of it.

Two decades? During which time we spent much of it in the top flight.

During which a number of players have still come through and gone on. They won't all be top level players but it doesn't matter if they've generated income.

Having looked at casino's links, yes can see his point, but it would be a pointless interview if he can't express disappointment at one of his players, who he rated, being moved on.

It seems there is some general disappointment at PP for not giving youth more of a chance, especially given the state of the team at the time, which may have left him frustrated.

As for Phillips, iirc he once said he didn't want to be manager.

Ultimately though, it comes down the Hill to organise his staff.

Not all Phillips or Lee's fault.

And I'd not condemn them without real facts and benchmarking. But my gut feel is we've not produced players that other clubs have managed. Not in numbers of quality terms. I might be wrong. Like I say you need some real benchmarking and analysis to tell exactly how well or otherwise it has performed.

Hes not decent though is he. we produce the square root of fuck all.

Also Jimmy / David not getting on means we should move on.

I posted some stuff up a few months ago on this but no idea what thread it was in.

Totally agree that without context it's difficult to assess how well the academy has done in recent years, but we did get fees and playing time out of Vela, Holden and Clough and a few bits and bobs from others so despite not knowing the full cost of the academy I'd guess it's probably washed it's face financially.

Difficult seeing as a handful of clubs mop up all the best youth prospects whilst they're still in the womb.
