Of the bone

Moved on from the players and started on the coach(es)

To a man those coaches are ex players and it looks like jobs for JP's mates. The 2  players that have stayed in the team, Zouma and Politic, did not come through our academy system. It is fair for KH to question if the academy is fit for purpose especially when you remember that when those who joined as under 10s were joining a Premier League club or one with still realistic aspirations of being a PL club. Now we are asking if they are good enough for L1 or L2.

The academy record going back 30 years is pretty dismal. When BSA was manager the only 2 that came through; Nolan and Hunt; were products of other clubs academies who didn't make the grade at those clubs.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Philips, Lee & possibly Spooner and Darby gone before the turn of the year.

Would think an opening will be made for Chris Beech to join on the academy side.

Has the academy done that bad recently? I thought it was highly rated, not sure how that particular rating was carried out mind

Has Hill confirmed what the ‘DNA’ is that he is after? I thought our academy lads tried to play a bit of football and that would fit with Hill’s style

I also don’t get the gym bunnies thing either as the kids I have seen us play look like they have never seen a set of weights in their life

Perhaps he’s trying to get rid of the old boys club so he can get some of his own old boys in. Swap one old boys network for another

Fair points there birch. I quite like watching the kids play- you can see the footballing ethic that has been coached into them.

Other clubs looking at them suggests all isn't that bad.

Perhaps they do need to be ready quicker, but how much of that is due to the last managerial set up preceding older, and loan players and how much is due to them not being up to it.

I hope he knows what he's doing; over the recent years a number of players have come through and been sold on.

Can't expect them all to be world beaters and go for mega bucks; they'd be with too clubs if they were that good.

I don't get the gym bunnies quote either, the likes of Darcy, Eddie Brown, Callum Harmes & Brockbank they all looked too weak in previous games, games against Tranmere all they did was just physically dominate us. They look as if they need bulking up to help them compete. Maybe in time they will physically grow naturally.

I'm not being funny but no player in the world is growing up aspiring to play for Keith Hill, or to be his type of player. What is going on here is the BN have got lazy, for the last few years, Bolton Wanderers has been easy content; just write about the crisis, even if you don't understand it. Then that gets dissected by people with nothing better to do with their time.

Now they have pages to fill with actual football news, they've lost the ability to do that. Harking back to shit quotes because they've nothing else to write and pages to fill. Poor.

I think your last paragraph is very plausible. I’d prefer it if he used the current staff and changed it from within rather than bring new staff in.

Nah, his comments are newsworthy. It's a simple as that.

Somebody needs to have a word with Hill & tell him to tone down his public pronouncements & that criticism of his players & coaching staff should be kept behind closed doors.

So far, Hill has escaped criticism for some daft public statements but it's only a matter of time before the usual people turn against him ( i can't stand to read the BN comments, so don't know if it's started yet ) & Hill's interviews will give them plenty of ammunition with which to attack him.

He’s allowed his opinion and if it improves us short and long term then do what you need to do Keith

Of course. Not sure some of the public statements are overly sensible though. Building blocks, nice and steady, all fine but perhaps better not throwing everything out into the public domain.

Suppose we'll see over the coming months.

Aye. Time will tell but I’d hope he knows if a shake up or not is required.

Absolutely. My only concern would be saying too much too soon. We've almost disappeared, and have just got the feel good factor back. Keep that going whilst steadily changing things as necessary.

Certainly whilst staying up is still a (remote) possibility.

He's doing a great job on the football side of things.

But I've stopped listening to his interviews so that I can't criticize him.

If the 1st team keep performing, I don't care if he's using former players to mow the fucking grass.

It needed a shake up top to bottom.

Eggs/omelettes etc..

Our resident Trump supporters should be all in favour

He's just excited, its like fucking Christmas for him, hes managing the mighty Bolton Wanderers and he's getting carried away.

He is random as fuck though and not easy to listen to, he puts on a bit of Manc drawl and likes to think of himself as The Liam Gallagher of League 1, and he donns the odd Stoney so it gives him that club to supporter connection. Sussed him 😁

Ha ha, maybe so.  Trouble is, the Rochdale lot warned us about his ramblings & also said that he was very sensitive to criticism & got into rows with fans. If he couldn't handle 1 or 2 moaning Rochdale fans, there could be problems ahead with the worst of our boo boys if he doesn't calm down.
