Zico Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 34 minutes ago, boltondiver said: Scientists are showing that the peak was before lockdown started are they? I read this https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/nov/30/covid-infections-england-drop-second-lockdown There was a 30% drop in cases across the country over almost a fortnight this month, with 96 people infected per 10,000 between 13-24 November, down from 132 per 10,000 between 26 October and 2 November. The study, undertaken by Imperial College London and polling experts Ipsos Mori, has produced regular reports during the pandemic on infection rates in England. “Our robust data offers encouraging signs for England’s epidemic, where we’re seeing a fall in infections at the national level and in particular across regions that were previously worst affected,” said Prof Paul Elliott, the director of the real-time assessment of community transmission programme at Imperial. “These trends suggest that the tiered approach helped to curb infections in these areas and that lockdown has added to this effect.” and this: https://www.newscientist.com/article/2237475-covid-19-news-uk-r-number-below-1-0-for-the-first-time-since-august/ Covid-19 news: UK R number below 1.0 for the first time since August The latest estimate of the UK’s R number – the average number of people each person with coronavirus infects – has fallen to between 0.9 and 1.0 for the first time since mid-August. “It is increasingly clear that the stricter measures implemented in recent weeks are having an impact,” said Liam Smeeth at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in a statement. “ Quote

You were saying that the lockdown wasn’t really a lockdown, but now it is! Always an interesting question to see where we might have been if we hadn’t have had lockdown. We’ll never know. Are you suggesting the lockdowns (Tiered or otherwise) have had no effect?? You seem to be implying that the infection rate dropped for another reason? What do you think that reason is? Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Whichever way you want to dress it, peaks are reached and rates drop when restrictions are at their highest. Quote

There is no economic case can be made for it in my opinion and will bankrupt the country. As Ive said before I will be down the road if it happens. Quote

Spider Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 I can see the oxymoron potential of a passport with UNITED Kingdom on it. Our monarch is going to end up owning a few allotments and a couple of parks. Quote
