So long as any given vial does have enough for 6 then makes sense to use it.

Perhaps some are a little less willing if there isn't official authorisation, or if they're not aware of it.

I'm not being funny, but its not rocket science

If any centre is chucking a 6th of each vial away questions need asking

I can't see that happening, if it is, then heads need to roll, but like i say, I really doubt that it's happening on a regular/consistent basis anywhere.

It's such a valuable vaccine, that I'd have thought they're counted out and counted back in again at the end of each day, with every single drop/dose accounted for, no way would they be allowed to have nigh on 17% wastage

I agree. You know full well what regulations are like, especially in the medical profession.

I've not heard whether or not the mhra (or whoever can make the decision) have approved it, nor if it is already standard practice.

If they are sold as 5 dose vials, at least we're not chucking away stuff that we've paid for, just the 'excess'. Still should be using it though.

As I've highlighted, they're counted as 5 dose vials. So none of the 5 are wasted; but the excess fill needs to be utilised if there is enough for a 6th.

He will be reet. Paracetemol and fluids I've told him. Gonna lend him my pulseoximeter to check his spo2. He thinks I kill off my patients like the angel of death though so won't listen to anything I say. Daft sod.

I get that, but the vials will be filled using incredibly high precision machines that will be calibrated every single day. No way are they putting anywhere near enough "excess" vaccine in to leave sufficient after 5 doses to administer a 6th. That just sounds ridiculous. Of course there will be a +/- tolerance, but not knocking on for 20% I wouldn't have thought.

If people are getting 6 jabs out of a "5 jab" vial, then I'd look at who is giving the inoculations and test their eyesight, as they're probably underdosing

And I'm very sure they won't be able/allowed to make up a dose using the remnants from 3 or 4 different vials would they?

Agree with everything there. No way would they be sucking up dregs from separate vials.

However, its been observed from those doing the work, that there is indeed enough for a sixth dose.

Esco put a link up which confirmed the European regulator has allowed them to get a sixth shot from them.

I too am amazed they're putting in some much extra.

Just had my daily q and a

Odd ones don't have enough for 6

Its probably sensible to say 5

So, I can call off the dogs. :)

We must be fucked if wheeling out Priti seems a good idea

Makes absolute sense.

Would put too much onus on those giving injections.

Do wonder why they top them up so much.

Understandable when she didn't answer the question

On another note, why didn't she listen when told to say G at the end of the word

Shes nearly as annoying as rayner

I can't take her seriously anymore.

I dunno if she's thick or not and its not actually that important how she talks, but I just can't concentrate on the content

Like I said, nowhere near as bad as Raynes though

I have her the benefit of the doubt until that interview.

Now she'll be forever remembered as thick as pig shit.

Not really. You'd expect cabinet ministers not to be thick. They might be amoral, repugnant fuckers, but you'd expect them to be intelligent at the very least.

Apparently not.

Exactly. The 'that' in the phrase 'that interview' I mentioned earlier, was referring to exactly that.
