On the plus side, the woman in question who must be in her 80's is going to Stevenage today for her jab, as they've opened up one of these Super Centres there. She's apparently in at 13:15, she's getting the bus there and back, as she doesn't drive....so in reality, I reckon she's got more chance of catching it going to or coming back from the inoculation than she has had in the past few months whilst she's been shielding

So sorry to hear that. Truly horrible. Hope you’re doing ok. Must be a hell of shock. Youngest person I’ve heard about in this way who’s died from it.

Nicola not happy with celtic again. Wonder if she will take further action as suggested previously.

Sorry to hear that Matt. Underlying health condition or relatively fit if you don’t mind me asking?

He was a big lad and had heart failure five years ago so undoubtedly he will go under the 'underlying conditions' statistic, but he'd have lived for decades if it weren't for the virus. The scary thing is how quickly it escalated and yet didn't in some other ways if that makes sense. Started with symptoms on New Years Eve - a full week after his brother started with symptoms - but took a while for it to escalate. He was taken in to hospital last Thursday morning and was released on Thursday afternoon but then deteriorated in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A default 3-0 win for Hibs (with the bookies paying out) would be nice, but maybe I'm biased 🙂

Looks like pubs might not (re)open until May bank holiday

I think most of us suspected they wouldn't be opening until May, but i must admit, I thought the start of May, not the end of it. That's just going to be rubbish.

I was thinking earlier about the Euros, do we reckon they'll postpone again, because no way on earth are they being played with fans in the ground - and no way will they be played in several different countries as planned

I think unless we get a proper grip of it it’s going to get potted.
Domestic leagues need to finish before the end of may because Euros start on 11th June

Just run the Euros and World Cup back-to-back in 2022

was reading the other day that it's not looking good for the Olympics in Japan as it's massively on the rise there

still time and they're trying to figure it out, they also said they might consider making sure every athlete has been vaccined before they go

I shouldn't have assumed you meant the one at the end of May 🙂

Anyway, just been speaking to my brother-in-law who works as an area manager for one of the big pub chains, and they've just told a lot of their managers that they might not get to "fully open" until June - they're hoping for partial opening (for those that also do food) around end April or start of May, which stacks with what you say

He's recently been put on some sort of shitty flex-furlough, so he get's paid 100% for the days he has to work, and 80% for the days he doesn't. He only finds out if he's working tomorrow, at around 4pm tonight, and it's like that every day, which is a bit biz. He's also pretty worried about his job moving forward as he suspects that a lot of the pubs he deals with won't re-open (he has a lot of purely "wet" pubs, which he thinks won't survive)

Grim times for the pub trade, and getting grimmer by the minute

I went to m and s last week or maybe week before and I was amazed the whole store was open. Folk wandering about shopping for clothes. Because they have a food element they can get away with it.

I like it when they're in front of you, shuffling along, and then, for no reason at all, they just abruptly stop and stand there motionless for a few minutes.

They're retired, supermarkets are open 24hrs, they should be made to go shopping between midnight and 6am, on a weekday, they've got fuck all else to do all day, so they can just stay in bed a bit longer if it causes them to be a bit knackered
