Big spike in Texas

I listen to some US based podcasts. Joe Rogan is one. They think it's over in most states. Trump's election campaign rallies start next week, he's disbanded the covid task force, Dr Fauci hasn't been seen for 5 weeks. They're doomed.

Very dangerous grounds when peoples rights to choose are taken away. There will be no way of knowing the long term effects of these vaccines given that they are likely to be hurried in.

Sounds good.

You should have a good idea- are enough youngsters coming out with the requisite qualifications?

Can't help feeling that more scientific/computing/engineering related subjects are going to be needed, certainly for the long-term as the need for green technologies increases and perhaps a more capable manufacturing base in some areas as a result of the virus.

Well yes and no

Most degrees are BS anyway and kids don’t need one

more doing STEM would help. Would also put your plumbing costs down as a result

But what’s in the degrees are half the problem. You learn a computer language in an educational setting and it’s nothing like it is commercially for example

Folk like Carlos will tell you there’s a huge difference. The days of Maths and Physics degrees making C++ developers should be way behind us

For me, just fuck loads of degrees off; get more kids doing an apprenticeship type thing where they learn and have part to play in a biz setting

There's no law in UK to force medical treatment, including vaccines, on anyone at the moment, and I doubt there will be - they can stop you from doing stuff though if you don't have advised treatment.

The vaccines they are testing now are based on Sars vaccines that have been worked on since 2004. Humans are being tested with the vaccines now.

These guys know what theyre doing. When the vaccine is created,  I'll eat my hat if the health risks from effects of the vaccine are anywhere near as large as the risk from the virus.

What kind of hat is it?

And so they should

Impossible to police but refusing the vaccine, no pub, no shops, no nothing

Number of times wife has heard

No, I don't want the vaccine for xyz, everybody else is having it and it's just a bit risky so I'll rely on everyone else taking the chance with their kids

It's either utter scum or fur coat and no clickers types

Fuck 'em. Texas are going to 100% capacity in all restaurants on Friday, they barely locked down at all.

It is what it is for them.

It’s weird over there though so doesn’t work like that

federal govt says one thing

state governors say another

Local county Mayors say yet another

the reality is that the protests apart most Texans I know have been doing what they want for a month

restaurants in Harris county (Houston) have been open with 50% I think for a few weeks. they have that much space that they’re never half full anyway 🤷🏽‍♂️

Missus has an apprentice training agency (ATA) in the east mainly for construction apprenticeships and the model is to interview applicants with potential employers and if they like someone the missus employs them (not the construction company) and effectively does a contract with the "host company", does the PAYE, pastoral care, arranges college for day release or block training etc so the employer only has to train them, sign off timesheets and pay a monthly bill based on hours worked.  If the contract is for e.g. a year, and the employer wants rid after that time, missus keeps paying them, keeps sending them to college and places them with another employer so they are guaranteed to complete. The reason for this is that colleges will fill classes with kids who have no job who then get their NVQs and have to sign on or employers lay off their apprentices half way through their training when work goes quiet so the missus ensures they complete and get on the job training. In the NW there isn't a similar scheme so I reckon your lad needs to get a job with an employer who is happy for him to get his qualifications. What he shouldn't do is go to college without having secured a job first - I've seen how that works out.

Good stuff.

I've sort of gone down this route so far. Suggested he looks for a proper set up where he will be well supported.

If he was to go onto university, I've also suggested he looks to do so as part of ongoing development by an employer.

I'm going to get him to read your post though.

100% agree.

Said the same for years, too much emphasis on degrees.

If you don’t get vaccinations you should be exempt from getting ANY help on the NHS until you do

How about if you have underlying issues that mean vaccines in the past have caused you serious health issues ?

Yoof is 21. Been working at company he did his apprenticeship at since left school at 18. He is partly qualified building services engineer. Company have paid for his college so far and will cover degree if he does part-time.
His salary is now just over £20k.  Which is not brilliant but he was on about £4 an hour 3 years ago. He should be nearer £30k in next two years. He has his own car on finance but no other debt. Pays fuck all rent as we said would help him. He sometimes buys his own beer on away trips.
His best mate got a 2:1 from what used to be Sheffield Poly. He works part-time in Waitrose and has about £30k debt. Only lad who went to Uni in his mates that has a proper job is a teacher.

There is no hard and fast rule as you know to this. There is also an element of luck in it.

i left uni and got on a grad scheme one of only two from my class. I stayed in touch with 4 of them and 3 struggled for years and now make a reasonable living and one has done really well.

from my grad scheme one earns in excess of 200k per year as head of structured finance for one of the big UK banks  another earns 35k a year as a business manager in a branch in Swansea

i did an apprenticeship  when I left school and found it wasn’t for me so started my own business , sold it and used it to fund my studies at uni.

My current employer does a scheme that includes university and qualifications. Wish something like that has been around when I was at school would have been ideal for me

Worth a look at Civil Service. Eldest is finishing second year of Engineering Management with the MOD including block college release for NVQ and HNC.

What are you basing this on?

My Mrs and her daughter.

I am 100 % pro vaccine but with vaccines there is a risk which is minimal for most people but a blanket rule does not work.
